TRADE TIPS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
ABOUT FACEBOOK’S TIMELINE
By Nicole Hayes
• On March 30, 2012, all Facebook pages made the mandatory
switch to “Timeline”
• If you haven’t already updated your Facebook page, here are three
helpful tips from a February PR Daily article
1. BRANDS MUST RETHINK THEIR FACEBOOK STRATEGY
• Consider what images will quickly garner consumer attention and
brand loyalty
• What message do you want your cover photo to send?
• You can’t just plop photos on a board. There should be a plan.

Our Facebook cover showcases some of the firm’s proudest achievements.
2. THE TIMELINE SHOULD TELL THE BRAND’S STORY
• Use compelling words and images to recount important milestones
ca
Our Timeline recounts important events and milestones like our book launch.
3. PREPARE FOR MORE MEANINGFUL INTERACTIONS WITH FANS
• This is more about engaging, not inundating people with dozens of posts.
• The Timeline offers more opportunities for customers to share how they’ve used
or enjoyed the company’s product or services.
• Interact with fans: respond to theircomments and direct messages
