0All nobles kept some land for themselves– direct control.

0All would live on their land called the “Manor” he would be considered the lord of the manor.

Serfs and Freeholds

0Serfs- very bottom of the social pyramid- usually farmers had virtually no power were considered property.

0Freeholders person who owned his or her land, they paid a yearly fee.

0Social Mobility: movement of individuals, people or groups from one position to another.

0Example of social mobility in reference to classes would be: Is a serf able being able to acquire his/her own land and become a freeholder or noble?
