During the planning and editing of our film

we had to use different technologies

in order to get a professional looking

EQUIPMENTSMac computer was

used in order to use softwares to edit opening scene. Since the Mac

computer was very new to us we had

problems using the softwares on it. Also, the Mac

computer is very different from PC as

there is only one type of Mac

computer but there are different

manufactures for a PC.

Using a Mac computer made us understand how films are being made and

how to use different effects in order to make a professional looking film. The advantage to

using a Mac computer is that it is what

professional use in the film industry and once

you have learnt the techniques it is easy to use. However the bad

thing about using a Mac is that if you have never used a Mac computer

before it will be difficult to use the computer and

the softwares on it.


EQUIPMENTThe camera was one of the most easiest

equipment to use. As this is a basic camera, all we had to do was switch the camera to on, click the record button and start filming. The problem we faced with the camera was one which we could have prevented. As we were

in the middle of our filming the camera battery ran out, so we were unable to

continue with the filming since we were in the middle of a forest. However luckily, I

(Victoria) had my own person camcorder on me because I had to take pictures of our

location so we used my camcorder instead. When we had to import the footage into the

Mac computer the software could not recognise the type of video we used so we had to convert the video into a MP4 so that

computer could be able to recognise the video.


SOFTWARESThe softwares we used in our opening scene was Final Cut Pro, Live Type, the internet, blogger and YouTube. We

used Final cut pro because this was the editing software which films industry commonly uses. The first time we used Final Cut Pro was when we were doing our preliminary task, I personally think that it was very difficult to use

at the time because I have never used an editing software like Final Cut Pro so it looked very complicated at the time. The only editing software I have used is Window Movie maker and compared to Final Cut Pro, Window Movie Maker is much more easier. However as I was getting used to using Final Cut Pro I have realised that it is not that hard and that it has much more features than what any other editing software I have used, and also gives much more types of effects that will make the opening scene much more professional. The most common editing we used in our opening scene was ‘ dip to colour’ and ‘colour tint’. Dip to colour allowed us to fade into another scene using a different colour, in our opening scene we used the colour white and the speed of the dip to colour effect was between one and two second which creating a flash. Colour tint was used in make the scene we chose black and white so that it can create a flashback effect, this was all done automatically so all I had to do was click

on the clip and click on Colour tint. Final cut was very useful to use because it enable us to edit our film and therefore create a professional looking film.


Live Type was used to create our production name, film name and also the people who played in our film and the people who done the editing.

With live type we were able to put in different effects so that we can present our movie in a

professional manner. This program was useful to us because we were able to write text in our film with different types of effects so this means that we can change the colour and we were able to

change the speed when It comes to into the film.


The internet is also a software which we

used in order to get information and do

research, by having the internet we were able

to create a blog so that we are able to post our media work onto the internet. The internet also helped us to get information on other software that we used such as Final Cut Pro and how to use this

softwares.


The blog website was used in order to post all our work online so that the examiner and our teacher would be able to see how we made our thriller

movie.


YouTube was used in order to find the music we need for our opening scene, we found a music which someone created and we asked permission before using it in our movie. This will prevent us from stealing copyright music which could cancel the

audio if we are not allowed to use it.
