Once upon a time….

Page 2: What Do You Really Want?

In a faraway land

Page 3: What Do You Really Want?

There lived a great scholar

Page 4: What Do You Really Want?

He governed anancient seat of learning

• One of the world’s top 50 universities• 29,000 students (8k from overseas)• 10,000 staff (2k from overseas)

Page 5: What Do You Really Want?

It was his wish that many more come from far and wide to study

Page 6: What Do You Really Want?

But the journey had become difficult

Page 7: What Do You Really Want?

And competition abroad was fierce

Page 8: What Do You Really Want?

It was not easy for outsiders to see the wonders of his university

Page 9: What Do You Really Want?

He had many lords, each lord of their own domain

Page 10: What Do You Really Want?

Each wished to stand apart

Page 11: What Do You Really Want?

How to overcome these internal battles?

Page 12: What Do You Really Want?

Aha! Inspiration! A content management system!

Page 13: What Do You Really Want?

Website for strangers of all nations

Page 14: What Do You Really Want?

So he asked a select group of magicians to make it happen

Page 15: What Do You Really Want?

They travelled the fiefdoms, asking • Who will visit your website?• What do they want?• What do you really want for them?

Page 16: What Do You Really Want?

And so it came to pass, a new website and publishing framework was born

And 3 years later

Page 20: What Do You Really Want?

His people could now rely on:

And so the great lord and scholar was so happy that he said “let’s do more”

Page 22: What Do You Really Want?

Let’s invest in more new technology

Page 23: What Do You Really Want?

And the magicians said, Sir, please consider your people

Page 24: What Do You Really Want?

Many are just at the beginning of their journey

They are • evaluating their content

and users• assessing their time and

skills available • beginning to share

technical development

Page 25: What Do You Really Want?

They have begun to work together

Page 26: What Do You Really Want?

What do the people want now?

• core elements of editorial and structural consistency

• flexibility and agility to respond to changing landscape

• time

Page 27: What Do You Really Want?

And so their wishes were granted

And they all lived happily ever after
