• Outline major changes to funding process in Croydon

• What is to happen next?

• Identify what you need to do

Page 3: What are we going to do today?

DCSF key principles to be achieved• Parents to have access to more flexible options

in terms of pattern per week, numbers of hours per day and number of weeks per year

• Increased free hours to 15 hours (September 2009 for some and September 2010 for all)

• Child count (from 2009), funding methodology and funding to be comparable across all types of provision from (2010)

• Methodology to provide stable but targeted funding that is cost efficient and will not fund too many empty places

• Expectation that parental agreements operate for a term at a time

• Suggest these are not totally compatible

Page 4: What are we going to do today?

Changes to funding process in Croydon

• Agreed number of hours at start of year• Termly counts of hours by child by week• Funding adjustments each term to allow for

changes in hours, up and down

• £/hour same across all types of settings• Additional funding for children from deprived

postcodes and where English is not the first language and for settings that open for longer hours and more weeks – will not be the same

• Move to electronic info transfer - (easiest if you use the Capita system)
