Late assignments will receive one-half credit. Make up examinations will not be given.

Practice Requirement A minimum of 2 hours per week practice time is necessary in order to attain an acceptable level of

performance proficiency. Field Experience Observations

Prior to making application for student teaching each teacher candidate will be expected to have accumulated 200 hours of field experiences. To help students gain a variety of field experiences the music department requires students to obtain a certain number of observation hours in each of their music education classes. Students enrolled in the flute and double reeds techniques class will be required to attain 10 observation hours. Those hours should be observations of beginning woodwind and/or private lessons teaching flute or double reed students. These hours should be documented in the college of education electronic portfolio and, for the purposes of this class, should be documented through observation and lesson forms which can be found on blackboard. Completed observation forms must be turned in at designated times in order to receive credit. Each observation is worth 1 point or 1% of the course grade. Attendance Policy You are expected to attend every class. After two absences, each absence will reduce the final grade by 11% (Three absences and a 93% final grade = 82%). Six or more absences will result in automatic failure. Tardy Policy Punctuality is essential for all successful endeavors in life. This is also a participatory class. Therefore, one unexcused absence will accrue with every three times a student is last to class (except in the case of a documented emergency). Accommodation of Disabilities

In compliance with university policy, students with disabilities who require academic and/or auxiliary accommodations for this course must contact the Office for Student Disability Services in Downing University Center, A-200. The phone number is (270) 745-5004. Please DO NOT request accommodations directly from the professor or instructor without a letter of accommodation from the Office for Student Disability Services.
