Wandering Public Cemetery In pursuance of the powers conferred by the abovementioned Act, the Council of the Municipality of the Shire of Wandering hereby records having resolved on the 21st December, 1995 to make and submit for confirmation by the Governor the amendments as hereunder set out to the above By-laws made under the Act and published in the Govern- ment Gazette on the 1st November, 1940 and amendments published in the Government Gazette on 10th December, 1976 and 21st January, 1977.

LG601 BUSH FIRES ACT 1954

Shire of Moora 1996197 FIRE BREAK NOTICE TO ALL OWNERS ANDIOR OCCUPIERS OF LAND

1. FIRE BREAKS Pursuant to the powers contained in Section 33 of the above Act, you are hereby required; on or before the 26th day of October, 1996 to plough, scarify, cultivate or otherwise clear and thereafter maintain fee of all inflammable material until the 22nd day of March, 1997 in the following positions and of the following dimensions on the land owned or occupied by you.

2. RURALLAND Firebreaks must be provided not less than two metres in width inside and along the whole of the external boundaries of the properties owned or occupied by you, where this is not practicable the firebreaks must be provided as near as possible to, and within, such boundaries with the exception that firebreaks can be modified or not required if after consultation with the Brigade Captain and neighbours i t is decided that a natural barrier or man made structure will act as a firebreak.

3. FARM BUILDINGS AND UNATTENDED ELECTRIC MOTORS AND HAYSTACKS Firebreaks at least three metres in width completely surrounding and not more than twenty metres from the perimeter of any building, group of buildings or haystacks. All inflammable material must be removed from an area two metres in width immediately surrounding the building. All inflammable material must be removed from an area three metres in width immediately surrounding an unattended electric motor site.

4. UNATTENDED FUEL OPERATED MOTORS All inflammable material must be removed from an area three metres in width immediately surrounding an unattended fuel operated motor whether the motor is intended to be used or not.


5. TOWNSITES On or before the 26th October, 1996 all town lots within the townsites of Moora, Miling, Watheroo, Bindi Bindi, and Coomberdale are required to be treated as follows-

(a) Where the area of land is less than 3 000 square metres remove all inflammable material from the whole of the land.

(b) Where the area of land is 3 000 square metres or more a firebreak must be provided not less than two metres in width inside and along the whole of the external boundaries of the properties owned or occupied by you and all inflammable material must be cleared two metres distance from all buildings andor haystacks situated on the land and maintained free of such material until 22nd March, 1997.

6. FUEL PUMPS (FUEL DEPOTS) On or before the 26th day of October 1996 all grass and similar material is to be cleared from such areas where drum ramps are located and where drums, full or empty, are stored and such areas are to be maintained cleared of grass and similar inflammable material until the 22nd day of March 1997. 7. INCINERATORS. Residents of townsites throughout the Shire are reminded that incinerators for the burning of waste material should be of an approved type and be in good condition. Open drums etc. are not acceptable. 8. PENALTY The penalty for failing to comply with this notice is a fine of up to $1 000.00 and a person in default is also liable, whether prosecuted or not, to pay the cost of performing the work in this notice, if it is not carried out by the Owner or Occupier by the date required by this notice. NOTE: Attention of landowners is drawn to the fact that this order allows for provision of firebreaks in situations other than immediately within property boundaries subject to approval. The Appointed Fire Control Officers have been authorised to act for Council in this matter. INFRINGEMENT NOTICES WILL BE ISSUED TO OWNERS OR OCCUPIERS WHERE NO OR IN- SUFFICIENT FIREBREAKS ARE PROVIDED.

Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale FIREBREAK ORDER, 1996-97

Pursuant to the powers contained in Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act, 1954 (as amended) you are hereby required on or before the 30th day of November 1996 to remove from land owned or occupied by you all inflammable material or to clear firebreaks in accordance with the following, and thereafter to maintain the land or the firebreaks clear of inflammable material up to and including the 10th day of May 1997, in such positions and to such dimensions as required by this Notice. 1. RURAL LAND (Land other than that within the Mundijong, Serpentine, Jarrahdale and Byford urban areas and the North and West Wards of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale). On or before the 30th day of November 1996 and thereafter up until and including the 10th day of May 1997.

1.1 Have firebreaks not less than two (2) metres wide inside and along all boundaries of land abutting road, rail and drain reserves and all public open space reserves, with all overhanging branches, trees, limbs, etc. to be trimmed back clear of firebreak area.

1.2 Have firebreaks not less than two (2) metres wide so far as to surround all buildings, sheds and haystacks. The inner perimeter of such firebreaks to be within fifteen (15) metres of the buildings, sheds and haystacks, with all overhanging branches, trees, limbs, etc. to be trimmed back clear of firebreak area.

2. RURAL LAND-NORTH AND WEST WARDS: Clear of all inflammable material, firebreaks a t least two (2) metres wide immediately inside all external boundaries of the land and also immediately surrounding all buildings and haystacks or groups of buildings and haystacks situated on the land, with all overhanging branches, trees, limbs, etc. to be trimmed back clear of firebreak area. 3. URBAN AREAS: (Land situated within the urban areas of Mundijong, Serpentine, Jarrahdale and Byford). On or before the 30th day of November 1996 and thereafter up until and including the 10th day of May 1997.

3.1 Have the entire land clear of all flammable material where the area of land is 1 012m2 or less. 3.2 Have the firebreak not less than two (2) metres wide immediately inside and along all bounda-

ries of land exceeding 1 012 m2 in area, with all overhanging branches, trees, limbs, etc. to be trimmed back clear of firebreak area.

3.3 Have firebreaks not less than two (2) metres wide immediately abutting all buildings, out- buildings, sheds, etc. situated on land exceeding 1 012 m2 in area, with all overhanging branches, trees, limbs, etc. to be trimmed back clear of firebreak area.

4. SMALL HOLDINGS: Have the land clear of all flammable material where the area of land is 1 012 m2 or less.


5. PLANTATIONS: (i.e. Eucalyptus, Pine, or other planted after 1st August 1996.) 5.1 Construct firebreaks not less than twenty (20) metres in width around and immediately in-

side all external boundaries of such land. 5.2 Construct firebreaks not less than ten (10) metres in width within the plantation so as to

subdivide the plantation into areas or compartments each not exceeding twenty eight (28) hectares.

5.3 Trees within two (2) metres of the edge of any firebreaks to be pruned so that access along the firebreak is not impeded by branches.

5.4 A map of each plantation showing roads, firebreaks, access points and water points shall be lodged with the Council on or before the 15th December 1996.

5.5 Where there is public building adjoining plantations there shall be a minimum fifty (50) metre distance between the building and the first line of trees. Council may require greater distances if, in their opinion, public safety would be a t risk.

5.6 Where there is a fuel depotlstation or storage facility for fuel or gases adjoining a plantation there shall be a minimum one hundred (100) metre distance between the boundary of the facility and the first line of trees. Council may require greater distances if, in their opinion, public safety would be at risk.

The Western Australian Planning Commission intends to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme and is seeking public comment.

The purpose of Amendment No. 981133 is to give statutory effect in the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS), to some of the recommendations of the Select Committee on Metropolitan Development and Groundwater Supplies through the introduction of a new "Rural Groundwater Catchment Protection" zone, located over the capture areas of the existing wellfield and its proposed extension on the Jandakot Groundwater Mound. The amendment also proposes the extension of the "Water Catchments" reser- vation over Crown Land, within the area.

The procedure for amending the Scheme, as set out in section 33 of the Metropolitan Region Town Planning Scheme Act, is to be used to advertise this proposal. Public submissions are invited and the amendment will eventually be put to Parliament for final approval. In accordance with the procedure in section 33, the Hon Minister for Planning has approved the amendment for public display and for the calling of submissions.
