Laws and Rights
What are the most important laws which help to make sure that everyone
in your civilisation is treated fairly? How are your people encouraged to follow
these?
Create your own ‘Weslandia’
Now that you have heard about the different ways that Wesley created his own civilisation, you are going to get a
chance to design your own.
You will need to choose at least five different features of your civilisation, using the ideas on this page. However, you can
create as many different features as you like!
What will you call your civilisation?
........................................................................
Your end goal is to prepare a presentation to help the class to learn about your new civilisation. You could use Powerpoint, create posters, use props or simply talk to your audience with
lots of interesting expression and gestures.
The main focus is to help us all clearly understand what makes your civilisation special in a maximum of 3 minutes, with an extra 2 minutes of questions from your audience.
Money, Money, Money
We use £ and p. What currency does your civilisation use? How much of your currency would be the same as £1? Do you use coins and notes or something
else?
Signs and Symbols
What is your civilisation’s national symbol or flag? How does it show what
your people believe in? How does it represent everyone living there?
Fashion
What is our civilisation’s national dress? Why is this kind of outfit special? Do your people wear it all the time or for
special events? How is it made?
Food, Glorious Food!
What is your national food or crop? How is made or grown? How do people
eat it? Is it part of a festival or celebration? Why is this food important
to your people?
The pen is mightier than the sword!
How does your civilisation write? Do they have their own alphabet or do they use images? Write your national motto
in your people’s style of writing.
All Creatures Great and Small
What is the most common/most rare or most special animal in your civilisation? What habitat does it live in? How does it behave? Is it wild, cattle or a pet?
Goal!
Many civilisations have a national sport. What is your sport called? How is it played? What are the rules? What
equipment or kit do you need to play it?
