  2. 2. FIRE EMERGENCY Stop Listen for directions from Ms. Swan and/or staff members Line up in single file formation on the center black line facing brown doors
  3. 3. TORNADO DRILLS Stop and Listen Listen to directions given by Ms. Swan and/or Staff Member Line up in single file formation along the wall by Lunch tables facing the south doors Go to the designated area in hallway and duck and cover Wait for the All Clear call from the office
  4. 4. LOCK DOWN PROCEDURE Stop Follow the directions Walk to designated area (stage) SILENCE Maintain SILENCE until notice is given from the police and/or the office and/or staff member
  5. 5. PHYS. ED. RULES Follow directions the first time given by all staff members Speak appropriately to others Ask permission from Ms. Swan/Staff Member to leave the gym Be responsible regarding equipment CLEAN UP Enter and Leave: Quietly Come prepared: PE rules/Journal/Proper PE shoes/Uniform/Pencil Stop and Listen on the Whistle
  6. 6. JOURNAL Journal entries will be a part of every Phys.Ed. Entries will include: Daily Goal/Objective, Essential Question, Coveys Habits, ideas and a description of activity The journal grading will be based on a grading rubric for the journal The journal rubric will be handed out during Phys. Ed. Class The journal entries must follow a certain criteria designed for the journal. Your journal/pencil/PE rules must be brought to every Phys. Ed. Class Journal writing fulfills objectives needed for the common core
  7. 7. GRADING PROCEDURES A grading rubric (based on 5 points) will be handled out during class The Phys.Ed grading rubric will be used to determine your grade Written, journal entries and skill tests are also part your grade
  8. 8. CONSEQUENCES Time-out Writing Assignment Written Journal Rules Loss of activity Lunch detention Principal Conference Call/Note to Parent After-school detention
  9. 9. PHYS. ED PROPER ATTIRE Gym shoes with traditionally tied laces (no sandals ,flip flops, dress shoes, high heels, platform shoes or boots Official District 111 uniform
  10. 10. S U C C E S S I will be successful only if I can develop Self-Responsibility for my own behavior and learning.
  11. 11. PHYS. ED. PROCEDURES Quietly Enter Gym Sit on your assigned number (no sliding or spinning) Listen to directions Perform warm-ups as directed Upon completion sit on your assigned number Listen for directions about activity Main Activity Closure/Sum it up Drinks Prepare to leave gym/line up in single file formation
  12. 12. WARM-UP ROUTINE 4 Corners Demonstration (by Ms. Swan) of exercise WATCH Perform exercise then rotate to next higher number Focus on you Talking to friends is DISCOURGED No Sliding
  13. 13. CONFLICT RESOLUTION Discuss Negotiate Ask for help Use game solutions: Rock/Paper/Scissors or Evens/Odds
  14. 14. HOMEWORK OPTIONS/EXTRA CREDIT Exercise every day: 30-60 minutes Keep an exercise/activity log Involve family members
  15. 15. BATHROOM PROCEDURES Use the bathroom before or after PE class However, if you need to use the restroom ask Ms. Swan and/or Staff Member for permission before leaving the gym Sign out (time) when leaving Sign in (time) upon return
  16. 16. WATER During class time, ask permission first from Ms. Swan and/or staff member After activity, line up in single file formation and stop on black line 10 seconds time limit, if you need more water finish your drink then go to the end of the line for a second turn
  17. 17. SAFETY FIRST Walk into or out of the gym, running or sliding will not be permitted consequences will follow if this occurs At no time, will sliding be permitted consequences will follow Use equipment as it was intended by manufacture or Ms. Swan Follow the given directions
  18. 18. HEALTH AIDE/MS. FICKER Pain is a humans natural protecting mechanism If an injury does occur during class inform Ms. Swan and/or staff member before leaving the gym If needed, you will be sent to the Health Aide/Ms. Ficker and she will determine further action
  19. 19. ILLNESS/EXCUSE FROM PARTICIPATION Participation in Physical Education is mandated by the State of Illinois Only a doctor can excuse a student from long term participation Parent/Guardian can write an excuse from class for a short term illness missing one PE class.
  20. 20. MUSTANG PHYS. ED. SCHEDULE August/September: Team Building Activities/Cardiovascular Activities October: Fitnessgram November: Zumba/Yoga/Dance December/January: Soccer February: Basketball March: Newcomb/Volleyball April: Fitnessgram May/June: Kickball/Misc Activities Throughout the year mini units will be intertwined to add variety Focus will be on sports, exercise, fitness, journal, health and social skills
