Students do not have access to take assessments at home but are able to select the Reading with ISIP™ button to continue their educational path and move forward with the same activities they see in the classroom. They may also select Books to reread any books they have experienced in the program. Reading AwardsIstation Bone- this award will be given to the class that has the highest usage for each month. The bone will passed around and classroom teachers can sign the bone. Like the golden spatula award, the bone award will be announced on the morning announcements each month.

Superintendent Reading Award- Effective October 1st and will run through March 1st. This award is a district incentive. Students must read a total of 25 books. These books must be on their reading level and can be either fiction or non-fiction. Schools with the highest percentage of student participation will receive a recognition plaque to display the achievement!!! (We want this)

Reading Recognition Awards- Reading Recognition runs through April. This is a TES school-wide incentive.

Accelerated Reader- Dog tags will be given every 9 weeks. Kindergarten points: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

1st-5th points: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 300

Practicing and Working Strong = PAWS

• This year students in grades K-5 are going to be involved in a program designed to boost achievement in reading skills.

• All groups will meet 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) for 30 minutes per day.

Students will use the writing process and be familiar with all 6 steps:

1 – Pre-writing – coming up with a plan. (Thinking maps)2 – Write – putting ideas on paper, not worrying about punctuation, spelling or grammar. (Writing frame)3 – Revise – look over work to correct mistakes and make it better.4 – Conference – share with others, get and give feedback, share with teacher, time for asking questions5 – Edit – make improvements based on advice given from conferencing. Checking spelling, grammar, and punctuation.6 – Publish – The final published product.
