Advanced Motorcycle Training.Com is owned by Nigel Bowers a former Police Sergeant who retired from Staffordshire Police in 2007, having completed his contracted 30 years. He first got involved in Motorcycle Training in the 1980’s whilst he was a Traffic Officer and during his time on Traffic he qualified as a Home Office Approved Grade One Instructor for cars and motorcycles. In 1990 after being promoted to Sergeant he left Traffic, and decided to join a local motorcycle training group where he reorganised the Advanced section, using his skills as an Advanced Police Motorcycle Instructor. He has been directly responsible for training in excess of 400 riders, and the training provided was recognised by a number of insurance companies. In 2000 he provided a comprehensive presentation for the Prince Michael Road Safety Awards and got to the final stages, but didn't win..

His involvement in motorcycling has given him an interest outside of the Police service and it has enabled him to develop his skills throughout the years. He sits on a number of committees.

Despite the fact that Nigel Bowers is highly skilled in a number of areas he had no recognised qualifications, so in 2001/2002 he was successful in obtaining a NVQ 3 Training and Development certificated in Advanced Motorcycle Training, as well as a BTEC in Motorcycle Training and Instruction (Advanced) through Edexcel covering the following skill areas, Advanced Riding, Advanced Coaching, Advanced Assessing and Advanced Training.

Having completed the course he started Advanced Motorcycle Training.Com.

• Although Advanced Motorcycle Training .Com is based in the North Midlands area on the edge of the Peak District it doesn't mean that the training/ assessing/mentoring is

restricted to that area of the United Kingdom.

• All the courses have been designed to identify any positive or negative issues with your motorcycling and to develop your riding skills. To be truthful you can not learn Advanced

riding overnight, but you can pick up some tips and advice that you can build upon.

• Where can I do a Course ?

• Although we are based in North Staffordshire all courses can be run anywhere within the United Kingdom (Additional cost for

traveling and any additional accommodation) but if you fancy a day out to Wales or the Peak District, the Cotswolds or exploring the

roads around Melton Mowbray under the guidance of an experienced Police trained advanced instructor, then this course is

for you.

• Other locations (France - Spain - Ireland - Scotland - Holland )

• Advanced One Day Course

• All one day assessment workshops / courses start at home with the initial contact either by phone or email. You are encouraged to complete an online rider profile which helps your instructor identify your strengths and weaknesses. The day is then is tailor made to suit your individual requirements. It is based on the Police pursuit style of training and is based on a 1:1 Rider to Instructor ratio.

• The day usually starts at 10am, and following an initial assessment ride there is regular breaks for refreshments and debriefs. All courses are recorded with the on board video system on the Instructors BMW and all commentary is recorded as well via the bike to bike comms.All the information, debriefs etc will be documented and you will receive a training journal at the end of the day. This workshop/course is designed to develop your riding style under the expert guidance of a qualified assessor in a controlled environment..

• Bespoke Motorcycle Courses

• Rider Assessment Course (2 hours): -A riding skills assessment session consisting of initial online assessment, pre ride briefing, assessment ride and debrief. Course will be captured on video.

• Cost £ 60.00 1:1 only

• Half-Day (Max 4 Hours) :- A half day course looking at issues with your riding with a mixture of theory on on road riding. The session will be captured on camera and a written report provided.

• Cost £ 120.00 1:1 only

• Preparing for the RoSPA Motorcycle Test: -The RoSPA’s advanced motorcycle test has been given the Driving Standards Agency’s seal of approval and has been recognised . The test is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public with a RoSPA Gold being the highest civilian riding standard. Have you got the ability to be a master of this art. If you have a good understanding and working knowledge of Roadcraft, the Police Riders Handbook and the Highway Code you are well on your way to taking the next step. The on road practical training and assessment prior to test. As a Rospa examiner Nigel can offer you help and advice to the achieve the ultimate grade.
