Expect your child to listen to you & comply to directions the FIRST time. Have your child in bed by 8:30 p.m. Give your child a balanced breakfast. Expect your child to read nightly and do it as a family. Supervise homework check, but allow your child to fix errors Practice vocabulary, math facts, and spelling nightly. Expect him/her to remember what was learned in class. Expect neat, carefully done work. Model how to help your child deal with challenges and stress. Limit the use of video games, TV, and computer games. Support the teachers and school by giving additional consequences at home. Dont bail your child out. Allow him/her to have the consequences that are a result of HIS/HER behavior or lack of responsibility.
