WHY I DO WHAT I DO

Hi, I’m Seraphine.

I can remember going through the box of family pictures as a little girl and feeling disappointment. I continued to thumb through the box of pictures, hoping to find more of me and my daddy, us as a family, or even just pictures of him and my mom but there were very few. My heart sunk every time.

See,See, my dad was the family photographer and while he loved taking photographs of us he didnt develop the film but most importantly he didnt feature in any of the photographs. Time passed and i moved away from home now i only get to see them every few years but we are hardly ever togehter as a whole family. I am sure my parents thought they had more time to take pictures, they had no idea how short those years would be. And neither do we.

That is where I can help you!

II am Seraphine Wanami and I am PASSIONATE about capturing your family, because I know how short life can be and we need to make the most of everyday.

Not only am I dedicated to capturing your family in a way that you will be proud of, but I am dedicated to creating a fabulous experience for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Have you ever looked at a picture of everyone smiling, yet you realize you have negative feelings attached to that picture? It is because in reality, behind the smile everyone was melting down right before and after the camera clicked.

ItIt is my job to create an experience where your kids (and hubby) want to cooperate, (trust me, I have tricks up my sleeve to make it happen) so that when you look at that final picture you will treasure it with fond memories.

It is your job to just enjoy the moment.

The experience I create for you is what sets Seraphine Photography apart from all the others. Here is a breakdown of what your experience will look like.

We have done a lot of family photo shoots over the years,but none of them were a pleasant experience. Until Seraphine!

CHOOSING YOUR LOCATION

I am a natural light, on location photographer.

What does that mean?

II depend on the sun for my lighting. We will shoot about an hour and half before sundown, & meet wherever your heart desires. If you do not have a place in mind you can tell me your ideas and I will figure out the perfect spot for your family depending if you want a more country setting or an urban setting.

WHAT TO WEAR

Within the entire Seraphine Photography Experience, my goal is to alleviate stress so that you can relax, have fun, and enjoy the shoot.

What to wear to your session can be one of those big stressors. So I have created some tips that will help guide you in your wardrobe journey.

FFor moms, I want to encourage you to pamper yourself. When was the last time you had your makeup done? Maybe never. Well, let this be an excuse to get it done.

I recommend that you coordinate your outfits rather than matching them. you could find a color that you like and work from that see example above.

Avoid wearing primary colors but you could pick outfits in shades of the family

EMBRACE YOURSELF & YOUR FAMILY

If you are an outdoor family, or a sporty family, don’t force everyone to wear fancy clothing. You want these pictures to really portray who you are as a family.

COORDINATE Rather Than MATCHING

At one point everyone wearing all white shirts and blue jeans was the thing to do. Not anymore my friends! Pick clothing that coordinates rather than matches.

IINSPIRATION PIECE

Sometimes it makes it easier for families to find a dress or a shirt with patterns of different colors & then pull colors from that pattern for other individuals to wear.

ACCESSORIES

Great accessories such as scarves, headbands, leggings, and even blankets can add to your look.

LITTLE ONES

SSometimes for little ones, great accessories might look more like a baby doll, or a favorite stuffed animal, rather than jewelry.

WHAT TO WEAR

LAYERS

Layers will add interest & texture to your pictures. Cardigans, blazers, vests & scarves, look great in photos.

COLORS TONES

TTry to pick a color tone and stick with it. What mood are you trying to set? If you want more of a relaxed mood for your pictures, choose a softer color pallet for the clothes you wear. If you want something more lively, choose a brighter color pallet.

LAY IT ALL OUT

I find it helpful to lay all your clothing choices out next to each other to make sure it goes well. Then you can begin trading things out to come up with the perfect combination.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE SESSION

To ensure that this is as fun and stress free as possible, I have compiled a list of things you might want to bring to the session

Water bottles for everyone.

Small snack that will not get faces or clothes dirty. Something like popcorn is great.

SomSomething sentimental. This could be a game, a book you love to read with the kids, or if your child has something special to them bing that.

Shirts: Some families like to wait until they arrive at the location to put the kids shirt on to avoid getting dirty before hand

Baby wipes are always good to have for cleaning faces, but normally I have some on hand.

Seraphine was so delightful to work with. She listened to every request and question, and was able to suggest photos and displays I hadn't thought of. She was wonderful with my children! The children were a little stiff an shy in the beginning, but quickly she had them laughing and playing, gegetting the most gorgeous photos, and they gave her big hugs at the end. I highly recommend Seraphine for all your photography needs.

Seraphine’s upbeat and personable manner with professional confidence made the experience memorable and fun.

RReveal night, when all the photos are revealed, was exciting and completely overwhelming because every shot was absolutely beautiful!

BEFORE THE SESSIONMy goal is to tell your family’s story, and to capture the beautiful, natural interactions of your family.

The tone for this is set before your shoot. If everyone is stressed out from getting ready for the shoot, it breaks up the cohesiveness of the family, and that shows in the pictures.

SoSo on your day, make sure to plan ahead to avoid being rushed and tense. I know it is easier said than done!

DURING THE SESSIONAt the shoot, I want to encourage you to interact with each other, not “pose” for the camera. Don’t pretend to be having a good time for the camera, just have a good time.

SSay funny things to make each other laugh, or tell inside jokes that only your family would think are funny, maybe give a little tickle here and there to the little ones.

Also, feel free to bring a favorite book or game to play with the family on a blanket. I will also have my bag of tricks that I will be bringing.

LastLastly, PLEASE do not worry about if your kids will act up or not corporate, trust me with a strong willed child of my own, I can handle it. So relax, interact, and just be the amazing parents you are, & I will handle the rest.

AFTER THE SESSIONWe will set a date for your Reveal night (the most fun of all!), which will be about two weeks after your session.

GGRANDE FINALE2-3 weeks after the Reveal and ordering session. Iwill bring your final products be it wall art or albums. This is the most anticipated day of the entire experience.
