add up for the school. Our goal for this school year is $1,000.

In a world when everything seems to be falling apart, how can

we put the pieces back together for our families? What will

hold our families together when we’re being pulled from so

many directions?

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Jennifer Wosmek, associate professor of psychology at

Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minnesota.

“Approaching the World with Integrity:

The Vocation of Parent”

Exploring how can we best prepare our children to live the faith, Dr.

Wosmek explains how the doctrine of vocation can enhance our

engagement with others and deepen our relationships.

This interactive presentation will help parents, teachers and others to

reflect on their various vocations and examine how they may apply Biblical

teaching in their lives and communities to promote the Christian world-

view.

Reintegrating Faith for the Family Sectionals

“Early Assessment and Healthy Childhood Development”

Reviewing developmental milestones can assist parents in knowing when

help and support for the healthy growth of their children might be needed.

Dr. Jessica Vaughan-Jensen, PhD, LP, staff psychologist,

Fraser—Minnesota’s largest provider of autism services

“Virtue and Integrity in Families of Faith”

Now more than ever, Christians stand in a profound position to reclaim

family virtue in our daily living. Explore the role of the classic virtues in

sustaining families of faith and integrity in a virtue-less age.

Rev. Dr. Lucas V. Woodford, senior pastor

Zion Lutheran Church and School, Mayer, Minnesota

and collegium fellow with DOXOLOGY: The Lutheran

Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel

“Integrating Prayer in Family Life”

Teaching our children to pray is teaching them the “language of the faith,”

saying back to God what He has spoken to us in the Holy Scriptures. Some

ways of doing this are suggested and explored.

Rev. Timothy B. Vaughan, senior pastor,

Trinity Lutheran Church and School, St. Francis

“The Word Remains: Integrating

Wholesome Stories”

Children are hungry for stories, whether on-

screen or on the page. Wise Christian parents

actively and responsibly select stories for their children. But where can

decent stories be found, and what tools does the Christian have to evaluate

the appropriateness of the stories we hear and tell?

Pasta with a Purpose: Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction

January 18, 2018

Dear Parents:

For our 15th Annual Silent Auction event, we are changing up the format this year to encourage higher attendance and hopefully raise more money for our school. This event will be on Sunday, March 18th with an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser from 11:00am – 1:00pm. This is a very important fundraiser for our school which typically raises $6,000 - $10,000 each year. In the past, these funds were used to purchase special projects such as technology upgrades and new playground equipment. Our goal this year is to raise money to purchase new smart TVs for each classroom as the current smartboards are declining.

Spaghetti Dinner For the spaghetti dinner, we will be selling pre-sale tickets for $9/adult and $5/child (age 5-12) or a $30 family special that includes 2 adults and all children under 18. The price at the door will be $10/adult and $5/child. The CPL is asking for your participation to sell tickets to this event. Tickets will be sold Sunday mornings and available in the office, but we would also encourage students to sell tickets to family and friends. On February 1st, each student will be sent home with a pack of 5 tickets. For every 5 tickets sold (1 ticket for each sale (i.e. family or individual)), they will receive a special prize. All ticket stubs (sold and unsold) must be returned to school on Monday, March 12th.

Basket Contest We have also brought back the classroom basket contest. Each classroom has a theme but all donations are welcome. The donated items will be combined to make baskets for the silent auction. The contest ends Friday, February 16th and the classroom with the most items wins a pizza party!

Classroom Themes: Kindergarten – Outdoor Fun (outdoor games, sand toys, BBQ supplies) 1st/2nd Grade – Family Night (movies, popcorn, card and board games) 3rd/4th Grade – Love for Learning (books, flashcards, school supplies) 5th/6th Grade – For the Home (DIY books, tools, cleaning supplies, décor) 7th/8th Grade – Chef’s Delight (cooking & baking supplies)

Volunteer & Earn Credit for Your Dinner Ticket A sign-up will be available on Sign-up Genius for volunteer opportunities including ticket sales, basket assembly, and event help. For every time slot you sign up for before or during the event (including any family members or friends), your family will receive a $5 credit towards the cost of your dinner ticket. So, if your dinner ticket would cost $30, you can

earn free dinner for your family by volunteering for six time slots. The first available opportunity is Sunday, February 4th, so sign up soon. To receive this special discount, you must sign up by Monday, March 12th.

Thank you for your participation to make this event a success. If you have any questions, please contact Chelsie Grochow at [email protected] or 763-331-1711.

Sincerely, Christian Parent League
