EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS The 6 Characteristics of an Everyday Stewardship for Lent – Prayerful

When my children were younger, they could make me laugh and sometimes cry. I would have conversations about animals, nature, outer space, and so many amazing things in life. I would play with them one day and then work to band-age a boo-boo the next. There were so many dynamics to our relationship. However, one aspect was my favorite. It was when one of them would snuggle up next to me on the couch silently, often leading to sleep. There was no better feeling, and I didn’t want to move for anything. It is crazy to think of all the things we would do together, and my fa-vorite was when we essentially were doing nothing.

Do you think God desires a portion of you? Without a doubt, He wants all of you: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Walking with Him daily is so important, and we can never become the disciples and stewards we need to be without a deepening relationship. Yet, prayer is not just talking and listening. It is also being. We sometimes seek to communi-cate so much and do so many things that we forget the val-ue of stewardship of presence. The giving of ourselves completely to another often requires us to simply be with that person. We feel their presence. We rest in their being. No words are needed because words would destroy the mo-ment. This is what we are called to in a relationship with God. This is good stewardship because it is about giving of our very presence to God and receiving strength from that resting in Him. Sometimes, all we need is to snuggle up to our God on the couch.Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

Lord Jesus, You are the healer of the sick, who raised the dead to life. We praise you for the faith you give us to keep on hoping and praying for those who are ill. Listen to the silent tears of those who weep within as they yearn to see their loved ones made whole again. Your healing was the center of your earthly message. May we continue to pray for those who are sick, and may your inner peace come to us all. Amen. (Adapted from: Living

Helping others…COVID-19 Practice good personal health habits and plan for homebased actions Practice everyday preventive

actions now. Remind everyone in your household of the importance of practicing everyday preventive actions that can help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses:

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay home when you are sick, except to get

medical care. Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects

daily (e.g., tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, and cabinet handles) using a regular household detergent and water.

o If surfaces are dirty, they should be cleaned using a detergent and water prior to disinfection. For disinfection, a list of products with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved emerging viral pathogens claims, maintained by the American Chemistry Council Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC), is available at Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Fighting Productspdf iconexternal icon. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for all cleaning and disinfection products.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty. *If you are not certain how long to wash your hands pray a “Hail Mary” and a “Glory Be” and you will have washed your hands for about 25 seconds. We definitely need the intercession of prayer to help find a cure for this virus and to pray for sick. LM Household members should follow normal preventive actions while at work and home including recommended hand hygiene and avoiding touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

Additional key times to clean hands include: o After blowing one’s nose, coughing, or

sneezing o After using the restroom o Before eating or preparing food

o After contact with animals or pets o Before and after providing routine care

for another person who needs assistance (e.g. a child)

Use the separate room and bathroom you prepared for sick household members (if possible). Learn how to care for someone with COVID-19 at home. Avoid sharing personal items like food and drinks. Provide your sick household member with clean disposable facemasks to wear at home, if available, to help prevent spreading COVID-19 to others. Clean the sick room and bathroom, as needed, to avoid unnecessary contact with the sick person.

Please let me know if you would like to visit more about this or your healthcare needs. Your Parish Nurse –

Laura Miller RN BSN FCN

Message from Archbishop Coakley…..

Due to the continued increase in the number of cases of flu and because of concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), Archbishop Paul Coakley has implemented the following temporary precautions for churches in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City: n Parishioners who are sick or experiencing symptoms, should stay home. Catholics are not bound by the obligation to attend Mass, including on Sunday, if they are ill. Out of charity to others, individuals who are sick with infectious illnesses should not attend Mass or other liturgical events; n Temporarily discontinue the distribution of the Precious Blood at Mass; n Discourage the holding of hands during Mass, including shaking hands during the Sign of Peace; n Where permitted, please strongly consider receiving Communion in the hand rather than on the tongue. Receiving communion on the tongue may expose the priests’ hands to saliva, which can be passed to other parishioners. When Mass is celebrated in the Extraordinary Form, reception of Communion in the hand is not an authorized option and receiving on the tongue may continue. The archdiocese will alter these directives as needed. Please continue to pray for all who are sick and families affected by these illnesses. Most Reverend Paul S. Coakley Archbishop of Oklahoma City
