St. Anne's Bulletin - 12th Sunday -June 21st, 2015 1st Reading: Job 38:8-11. God alone is able to exercise control over the sea. In this way we see God's care for the human family. 2nd Reading: 2 Cor. 5:14-17. Christ died so that we might live a Christ-centered life, not a self-centered life. Gospel: Mark 4:35-41. When the apostles witness Jesus calming the sea they are dumbfounded and ask who this man can be, who is able to do a work of God. Gospel Challenge - To see God differently Impelled by the love of Christ and transformed by its power, we begin to perceive God differently. Like Job, we move from viewing God as a deity who is so distant from us that the circumstances of our lives appear to be irrelevant, to realizing that everything is ultimately in God's hands and everything follows the course on which God has set it. For our part, all we can or need do is entrust ourselves to this loving God who cares if even a sparrow falls to the ground. Like the disciples, we begin to realize that this man who shares in all of our human vulnerability is able to direct the power of the Creator. Impelled by the love of Christ, we come to see that God is sincerely interested in our fears and misfortunes; God is with us in the midst of the storms of life and ultimately is in control of the chaos that threatens us, whether we recognize this or not.
