Stories of Women from the Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV, a book and documentary, tells the stories of ten women and one girl who are all HIV-positive. The stories plot key moments in their lives, from diagnosis to the realiza-tion that they could be part of the change, documenting the journey each woman went through to emerge as an advocate for individu-als living with HIV and a powerful voice in the global dialogue on AIDS.

Mrs. Goundo’s Daugther (60 min)

This important film reveals how women are profoundly affected by the legal struggles surrounding immigration. As issues of asylum, international law and human rights collide with FGM and its devastating health consequences, filmmakers Barbara Attie and Janet Goldwater travel between an FGM ceremony in a Malian village, where dozens of girls are involved, to the West African expatriate community of Philadelphia, where Mrs. Goundo challenges beliefs and battles the American legal system for her child’s future.

My Daugther the Terrorist(58 min)

This fascinating documentary is an exceedingly rare, inside look at an organization that most of the world has blacklisted as a terrorist group. Made by the first foreign film crew to be given access to the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) of Sri Lanka, the film offers important insights into the recently re-ignited conflict in Sri Lanka.

The Sari Soldiers(92 min)

Filmed over three years during the most historic and pivotal time in Nepal’s modern history, The Sari Soldiers is an extraordinary story of six women’s courageous efforts to shape Nepal’s future in the midst of an escalating civil war against Maoist insurgents, and the King’s crackdown on civil liberties.

The Greatest Silence (76 min)

This extraordinary film shatters the silence that surrounds the use of sexual violence as a weapon of conflict. Many tens of thousands of women and girls have been system-atically kidnapped, raped, mutilated and tortured by soldiers from both foreign militias and the Congolese army. A survivor of gang rape herself, Emmy Award®-winning filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson travels through the DRC to understand what is happening and why.

After the Rape (58 min)

Revealing the progress and fruits of Mukhtaran’s labor, this powerful documentary tracks the school’s profound impact on the girls and families of Meerwala and shows how the crisis center empowers women seeking its help. An important look inside Pakistan, where the impact of Islamic fundamentalism is revealed and how women are fighting its oppressive and violent impact.

7:45pm

Little Caughnawaga(56 min)

The filmmaker explores her roots and traces the connections of her family from the Kahnawake Reserve outside Montreal to the 10-square block area in Brooklyn known as Little Caughnawaga. There, while the Mohawk ironworkers were building Manhattan’s iconic skyscrapers, the women sustained a vibrant community far from home.

Mohawk ironworkers historically have placed their sweat, tenacity and heart into many of the metro-politan structures we see and are in contact with today.
