Mount Annan Botanic Gardens is the prime botanical garden in Australia with over 400

Furthermore all marquees assembled in the Australian Botanic Garden must meet

certain site conditions. On every occasion a certificate from the marquee manufacturer must

be provided by the marquee hire supplier displaying that the marquee meets or surpasses

Australian standards and is architecturally sound.

The marquee hire contractor must hold Public Liability Insurance to the value of

$20million, a copy of the current certificate must be submitted to the event department of the

Garden. Also current Safe Work Method report must be provided by the marquee or event

supplier. The marquee contractors have to obey “Marquee Weighting and Pegging Guidelines”

set out by the New South Wales Hire and Rental Industry Association found at their web site

All marquee PVC textile covers, the marquee roofs and side panels must be

manufactured of flame retardant materials. The side walls of all marquee structures can be

easily opened or closed, however at any given time it must have a minimum of two one meter

wide exits available. The Garden also required that suitable fire extinguishers be located within

the marquee at all times, with

catering suppliers being obliged to

keep fire extinguishers and a fire

blanket in their catering tent.
