WEDDING HAIR TIPS AND

TRICKS

If you're planning a destination wedding then it pays to keep your hairstyle simple. Natural hairstyles are the easiest to achieve and the ones that work best when you're in a far of destination. Begin by looking in a few magazines and having a chat with your regular stylist.

Go armed with some pictures and throw in some ideas of your own, to narrow down the possibilities. The essence of good destination wedding hair is about choosing an uncomplicated style whether that be a simple pony tail, keeping your hair loose and casual, or a cute pixie cut.

When to have your hair cut

It usually takes a week or so after a hair cut for your hair to settle, so have it cut at least two weeks before the date of the wedding.

Make plans well ahead for the style of your choice and try to get the first cut done a couple of months before your wedding so that by the time of the final cut, your hair falls naturally into place and you're used to styling it.

Applying Colour

Again, if you're having your hair coloured or highlighted have it done a couple of weeks before your wedding.

This way you won't end up with excess colour around your hairline or on your scalp and if you have any home colour disasters, at least you've got time for a hairdresser to sort it out.

Hair extensions

Nowadays hair extensions are far more affordable than they used to be and can make an incredible difference to how you look and feel on the day. If you want more length or fullness then extensions are the easy way to go.

Have them put in a couple of weeks before your wedding to give you a chance to get used to them and to experiment with a few hairstyles.

Climate conditions

The humidity of a tropical climate can wreak havoc with your hair, although if you're lucky enough to have naturally curly hair, then this can actually enhance your curls.

There are plenty of products on the market which are designed to be used with straighteners to give a smooth sleek look to otherwise frizzy hair, so don't despair. One word of warning, though, be sure to take your hair products with you as the chances of finding the brands you use on a tropical island are pretty low.

Relax

Finally, a good tip is to have a few massages and treatments before your wedding, drink plenty of water and eat healthily.

A massage will leave you feeling relaxed and less stressed and drinking more water and eating healthier will show on the outside. Your skin will glow and your hair will look healthier too. You may even lose a bit of weight too.
