Things To Consider

When searching for the perfect wedding rings there are a few things to consider so you make a

choice that you will be happy with for the rest of your life. Think about your lifestyle, your fashion

sense, your job, your skin type and things you do every day.

For Her

Try to find a wedding ring that will match the style of your engagement ring. Choosing the same

profile and the same width as your engagement ring will mean the design will sit comfortably on

your finger and feel similar to your engagement ring, encouraging you to wear them together. If you

have a diamond in your engagement ring and want diamonds in your wedding band you may want

to pick the same setting type and diamond shape, so the two rings complement each other and look

like a set.

Often the wedding ring is worn on without the engagement ring after the wedding so considering

your job and day to day activities may help in your final decision.

For Him

Choosing the right wedding ring for you also needs to be well thought out, especially if you, the

groom hasn’t worn jewellery, and in particular rings, before. Consider your day to day activities like

sport, your job, hobbies and choose a ring suitable to wear during these tasks. Also confirm that

neither nor your partner are allergic to any kinds of metals, and if so, choose a safe precious metal

such as platinum or palladium which have a high purity of fine metal and are therefore

hypoallergenic.

Choosing the Metal

The precious metal you choose is a very important decision hen choosing your wedding ring. In the

jewellery industry, gold, silver, platinum and palladium are used commonly in combinations with

each other and with other metals, to produce alloys with specific properties that make them ideal

for jewellery making.

METAL

W/Y GOLD

Gold has been a universal symbol of wealth and has been highly sought after since the beginning of

recorded history. Gold lasts forever and will not rust, tarnish or corrode. Alloyed gold comes in a

range of different colours, yellow, white and rose, where the purity of fine gold will differ depending

on the carat you choose. You can choose from 9ct, 10ct, 14ct, 18ct and even 22ct for yellow gold

(the higher the carat, the higher the fine gold content), here at Starfire we generally recommend

18ct.

Platinum

Platinum is the rarest and most valuable of all the precious metals. Only a small amount of platinum

is made each year which enhances its rarity. Platinum jewellery contains more fine metal than most

other jewellery, being at least 95% pure. This rich purity makes platinum hypoallergenic and its

natural white colour will never tarnish or loose its lustre.

Palladium

MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN

Palladium is in the same precious metal family as platinum and is naturally white with a slightly

darker shade then platinum. Palladium is strong, durable and will last forever.

Titanium

Titanium, although not a precious metal, is a naturally grey charcoal coloured metal which has

incredible strength and durability. Titanium is a lightweight option for jewellery and is

hypoallergenic.

Choosing your profile

The profile of your wedding band refers to the shape of the band of your ring and can greatly change

the look of the ring.

For the bride: Often a profile that matches her engagement ring is the best option as the two rings

when worn together will sit comfortably against each other.

For the Groom: A profile which is most comfortable wearing id the best choice, choose something

that he will easily get used to and want to wear every day.

Choosing the fit

A special feature of a Peter W Beck ring is the internal curve of the wedding ring. The curve on the

inside can change the fit of the ring on your finger and is particularly important when choosing a

wide ring. See below a list of different fits you can choose from…

Standard Fit

Standard fit is a flat surface on the inside of the ring and is suitable with lighter weight materials

such as titanium and silver, as well as narrow rings.

Ezi Fit

Ezi Fit is a shallow curve on the inside of the ring and on average adds .2mm of thickness to the ring.

Adding Ezi Fit makes the ring easier to put on your finger and makes the fit more comfortable.

Luxury Fit

Luxury Fit is a more prominent curve on the inside of the ring and is usually .4mm thicker than

standard fit. Adding luxury fit is a beautiful addition to any wedding ring as it makes the wedding ring

incredibly comfortable

Choosing the Finish

A finish on your wedding band can change the look of your design by adding something a little extra.

There are 17 different finished that are available, from soft subtle textures, to hardwearing and

coarse finishes.

Choosing the Diamonds

Deciding whether or not to have diamonds in your wedding band is a completely individual choice

and can depend on your own style and personality.

For the Bride: It often depends on the design of her engagement ring. Diamonds can be added to a

wedding band to add a subtle sparkle, or can be the central design point of the wedding ring.

Here is a picture of the diamond shapes you can choose from…

Choosing your specifications

Choosing the width

Choosing your width can be made quite easily with the sample widths you can try in store. Anything

from a 2mm band to a 12mm band is available in many cases, just make sure you choose the right

width for your finger that’s comfortable and suits your hand.

Choosing Your Finger Size

It is always best to have your finger sized here in store as we will take into consideration the

width of the ring you will be purchasing and any other factors affecting the finger size. It’s

important to keep in mind that heat, cold, your health and sometimes the time of day can

change your finger size slightly.
