Slide 2 Webinar Description This webinar will focus on how to use Jing, a free screen capture/casting software. Jing allows users to create image and brief video files that capture what is on a computer screen. These images and screen casts can be emailed and posted online. Slide 5 UCD Best Practices Course Curriculum Post all course materials online Instruction Diversify your instruction every 20 minutes Use multimedia to enhance your presentation Assessment Encourage students to do their final assessment in a medium that works for them Use e-portfolios to evaluate student work throughout the semester Environment Use technology to enhance the learning experiences of all students Slide 6 Strategies for Implementing UCD Course Curriculum Invite Guest Speakers to share their perspective on topics. Search for video clips on the web. Provide links to podcasts, video clips and additional web sites. Incorporate charts, diagrams, graphic representation, maps, case studies. Use different types of media. Slide 7 Strategies for Implementing UCD Instruction Describe all visual props while showing them. Include a brief reflection and discussion session at the end of class to review what was covered. Email or post your notes on course website. Include tactile drawings, graphs, and 3-D models, maps, and diagrams. Provide a link to video or at a minimum a transcript of the video. Provide written directions and pictures to identify steps in the process. Slide 8 Strategies for Implementing UCD Assessment Provide multiple opportunities for students to get feedback prior to submitting final draft. Give students opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge in alternative formats. Encourage students to do final presentations in a medium compatible with their learning style.
