IN SUMMARY

• The cloud computing era of IT is dawning, creating a new IT reality where multi-sourcing of compute resources is becoming the norm.

• Enterprise cloud adoption is accelerating, however for most companies (with legacy IT) it is a transition over time.

• The research shows that hybrid IT dominates today’s reality as well as the mid-to-long-term future.

• PaaS is becoming an increasingly important cloud adoption model enabling the business.

• Connectivity between on-premise (data centre) and off-premise (cloud) is a key requirement for acceleration of cloud adoption.

• Based on networking concerns (e.g. security, performance), many companies are bypassing the public Internet for business applications.

• Direct connect services could break these barriers of cloud adoption.

• Resulting in a 69% increase of workloads in the cloud.

• The ideal place for Enterprises to architect their Hybrid IT solutions is a colocation data centre, providing direct access to cloud access points, WAN & Internet providers, private cloud providers and Internet exchanges.
