Soccer is the most popular sport in the world A soccer game begins with a kick off at mid field When a foul is committed outside of the penalty area a free kick is rewarded to the team the

foul was committed against. If the foul is committed inside of the penalty area then a penalty kick is awarded

There are 11 players including the goalie on the field for each team during a regulation soccer game

If the ball goes over the sideline or touchline a throw in is taken by the other team to restart play

In soccer a goal counts as 1 point A goal kick is used to restart play when the ball is kicked or headed over the endline of the

Basketball

winter months The first official basketball game was played in 1892 The first college basketball game played was between Connecticut and Wesleyan in 1896 Women didn’t form their own rules for basketball until 1899 5 players can be on the floor at each time for each team The game of basketball begins with a jump ball at center court When an offensive player moves both feet while not dribbling the ball it is called traveling When an offensive player dribbles the basketball catches it and then dribbles it again it is called

a double dribble When the player with the ball or the ball goes over the sideline or the baseline it is ruled out of

bounds and possession switches to the other team A backcourt violation occurs when the offensive team crosses the center court line and then

dribbles or passes the ball back across the line If you do not inbound the ball within 5 seconds of receiving the ball a 5 second violation occurs

and the ball goes over to the other team If an offensive player stays in the lane for 3 seconds a 3 second violation occurs and the ball goes

over to the other team A foul in basketball is any play where an infringement of a rule is made on the opposing player

and free throws may or may not be shot depending on the violation Charging is when the offensive player runs over a defensive player who has already established

specific player and man to man defense is defined as each player is responsible for a certain player on the opposing team

Ultimate Frisbee
