Toenail Fungus

Only those who suffer from toe nail fungus truly know how terrible and uncomfortable this condition is. Having to deal with it on a daily basis puts an incredible strain on you. However, by now it has been established that toenail fungus is a very common problem. This means that you can find an abundance of so-called cures, but do they truly work?

We have summed up a list of the most powerful natural remedies. These are guaranteed to help you escape this never ending torture. Knowing how to get rid of foot fungus quickly will help you take proactive measures to make sure your feet are constantly happy.

The truth is that before prescription medication and surgery, people managed to find natural solutions to treat their illnesses. We have to remember that nature is on our side. The 3 alternatives listed below testify to that.

1. Tea Tree/ Orange Oil Rub

Tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant, possessing fungicidal and antibacterial properties that make it popular in treating toenail fungus. Orange oil has also shown promising results when it comes to getting rid of fungus, and can be added to the mixture as well. Always remember to dilute the essential oil before applying to the nail.

Ingredients for the mixture:

-1 teaspoon of tea tree oil

-1/2 teaspoon of orange oil (optional)

-1/2 teaspoon of grapeseed or olive oil

Alternatively, you can apply 4-5 drops of tea tree oil in enough water to soak your feet in, and do that for 15-20 minutes. Both treatments should be done faithfully in the morning and evening.

2. Coconut oil

Medium chain fatty acids work wonders in how they act as natural fungicides. The fungal membrane is crucial to maintaining the “life” of the fungus, which is why many antifungal treatments target the fungal membrane. Fatty acids, such as the ones found abundantly in coconut oil, naturally insert themselves in the lipid (fat) layer of the fungal membrane and disturb it, leading eventually to cell disintegration and the ultimate destruction of the fungus.

Don’t forget to wash your hands between applications if you’re not using gloves. Rub coconut oil onto the area and let it absorb and dry naturally. There is no need to gob a whole bunch on - a thin layer will do. Repeat 2-3 times daily.

3. Oregano Oil

Oregano Oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitic, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties. This makes oregano oil an effective treatment for toenail fungus.

Mix two drops of oil of oregano in one teaspoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture on the affected area and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Then, rinse it off and dry your toes thoroughly. Repeat once or twice daily for three weeks to see positive results.
