They labeled the parts of a tooth & did an experiment on why brushing their teeth is so important. Check out their pearly whites! Kindergarteners also discussed George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The students were all ears as they learned about these amazing men! 1 st Grade First graders really enjoyed learning about the properties of solids & liquids in science. These students performed fun experiments & explorations with solids and liquids. They have just wrapped up this unit and are eagerly anticipating what they will conquer next in science! 2 nd Grade Second graders are about to embark on a study of “Women in History.” They will discuss Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, and Clara Barton. This study is sure to engage and deepen their understanding of American history. Second grade is also gearing up for spring as they get ready to start a new science unit on “Soils.” 3 rd Grade 3rd graders are digging deep into fractions! Students will work on identifying equivalent fractions, comparing fractions and using fractions on a number line. They will even get the opportunity to make some fraction art! Also, as we inch closer to the PSSAs, parents and students are reminded that they can access Study Island at home to practice both Math and ELA skills. 4 th grade In science, fourth graders have been learning about organisms and their environments. Students have been discovering interesting symbiotic relationships (food getting relationships) among different animal species. In the next few weeks fourth graders will begin a unit on electric circuits, where students will have many hands-on opportunities to create circuits and discover “Watts What” with electricity! Homework is Important! Be sure to check your child’s agendas to see what homework is to be completed and to check for important notes.

Kindergarten Kindergarten has just finished studying about dental health. They labeled the parts of a tooth & did an experiment on why brushing their teeth is so important. 1 st Grade First graders really enjoyed learning

Computer Class Third grade is currently working on improving their keyboarding skills and learning where the keys are on the keyboard.  They are also becoming experts in working with Microsoft Word and formatting a document. The 4th graders have been programming the Dash and Dot robots. They have been using problem solving skills and teamwork in order to successfully finish a series of programming challenges. Using a cause and effect strategy, students can see what

happens when the robots are given a specific command and can apply these rules to creating a solution for a particular challenge. 

Bingo for Books will be rescheduled for grades K-2. Please keep checking your child’s folder for the upcoming event. Our fourth annual Father-Daughter Dance was a success! Thank you to all the parents, and custodial staff, that donated their time and efforts to help make this a wonderful experience for our students. The PTSO Book Fair has returned! Visit the Book Fair Tuesday, February 27 after school until 5; Wednesday, February 28 after school until 7pm; or you may send money into school with your child. Students will be visiting the Book Fair during the school day February 27 – March 1. The PTSO will be accepting donations for the Somerset County Humane Society during evening hours! The leading classroom for the January’s Box Top War was a tie between Mrs. Miller’s third grade and Mrs. Rypczyk’s first grade homerooms. Thank you for your participation!
