I read the October 2011 editorial with great interest, since I am often in the position of working with dentists in multi-disciplinary cases (Kokich VG. It is also important to have a mutually respectful relationship. We really need to emphasize mutual respect, and I have found that to be lacking in our com- munity. I have often wondered whether some dentists realize that we went to dental school and then some! I still believe that orthodontists are the experts in our eld since we have gone to an additional 2 or 3 years after dental schooland most of us were in the top of our class to qualify for specialty training. We are highly trained and educated professionals, and our specialty should be doing more to emphasize this. It was ironic that just yesterday I received letters from a dentist with detailed instructions for me to follow for 2 patientsorthodontic care. Not only were the recommendations inappropriatethey didnt even have the teeth labeled correctly. This form of arrogance disrupts the relationships we have with these patients. Rather than encouraging dentists to check our work, lets encourage open, respectful dialog among professionals. Thanks so much. Diane M. I am an orthodontist; I graduated from the Universidad Intercontinental in M exico City, and I am currently living and practicing in the central part of Mexico, where I sufferedthe same experience. My brother has a masters degree in prosthetic and cosmetic dentistry, and we often work together on patients. I have learned many aspects that I must correct before nishing a patients treatment. As orthodontists, we sometimes forget that all the perspectives of esthetics and function, from all branches of dentistry, match perfectly when we learn what other disciplines know. We must learn to learn from each other. We must open our eyes, wearing glasses that we have never tried. Once again, congratulations. I am an orthodontist; I graduated fromthe Universidad Intercontinental in M�exico City, and Iam currently living and practicing in the central partof Mexico, where I “suffered” the same experience. Mybrother has a master’s degree in prosthetic and cosmeticdentistry, and we often work together on patients. Ihave learned many aspects that I must correct beforefinishing a patient’s treatment.
