At the end of the We.Learn.It workshop, participants are expected to

be familiar with the the we.learn.it initiative and Learning Expedition

concept. Participants will also learn how to develop learning expeditions.

The workshop aims to introduce a new and innovative way of teaching

and learning to participants. In addition, participants will learn how

to employ experiential, collaborative, and use ICT based learning

techniques or tools. It is expected that participants will be able to

determine the applicability of the Learning Expedition pedagogical

concept within their respective schools and the education sector in South

Africa.

09:00 Presentation: we.learn.it and Inclusive Online Learning A one hour presentation on the we.learn.it project, the Learning

Expeditions Framework, how it enhances education and learning as well

as how it enables inclusivity in education.

10.00 Q&As session

10.30 Walking poster session: This session will allow participants to learn and understand existing

Learning Expeditions undertaken by students and teachers mainly across

Europe.

11.30 Presentation: The we.learn.it tools used for designing and undertaking learning expeditions

14.00 Group excercise: A 1 hour group exercise to design learning expeditions for South Africa’s

schools and education system. Participants will be divided into groups of

5 - 6 people with each group designing a Learning Expedition

15.00 Interactive session: This will be followed by a 20 minute interactive session where each group

presents its designed learning expedition to the rest of the participants.

15.50 Interactive session: Discuss about the transferability of the Learning Expedition approach

to South Africa education system in terms of conceptual and practical/

implementation grounds (e.g. what respects would Learning Expeditions

have to be modified/adapted to achieve the expected impact in other

schooling contexts?)

Assess the need and modify the evaluation approach to measure

and evaluate impact in South Africa schooling contexts e.g. could the

participants rely on the same type of data and data collection strategies

proposed for the evaluation of Learning Expeditions in the workshop to

South Africa (in terms of the framework/instruments/methods)
