The Watermael-Schuman-Josaphat project: snapshot
• Direct link between the European Quarter of Brussels and Brussels Airport
• From Ottignies to Brussels-Schuman the line will be expanded to four tracks
• Develop the network in order to facilitate mobility in Belgium • More specifically, connect the economic hub of the Brussels European
District to most major Belgian cities (Mechelen/Hasselt and Leuven/Liège), without passing through the North-South junction, which is currently close to saturation
• Placing into service scheduled for the end of 2015 • Investment of around 600 Mio euro • Progress towards target: 90% completion
