Reclamation Facility Operation
• Operating the treatment facilities is a 24/7 job headed by State Certified Operators for Wastewater Treatment holding grades I through V certifications. The State requires a Grade V State Certified Operator to lead operations of the designed 80 million gallon per day reclamation facility. The process to become a certified operator at the various levels combines experience, knowledge and the ability to pass the State exam. Operator in Training (OIT) is the first step to get into the wastewater treatment operation field.
Competitive: We perform our work in a cost effective and innovative manner, providing the best value.
Mechanical Maintenance •The Mechanical Maintenance workgroup repairs, services, constructs and maintains equipment and inventory at the RWRF. Personnel in this group are mechanics, storekeepers, equipment service workers, laborers, construction workers and painters.
Team Focused: We value the contributions of our co-workers and care about each other's well being and development.
Field Maintenance
The Maintenance Field workgroup takes care of the facility’s 3,200 acres
ensuring maintenance of pond areas and canals and management of
recycled products. Personnel in this group are heavy equipment
operators, wastewater distributors and ground maintenance laborers.
Professional: We perform our work in a courteous, conscientious and ethical manner while demonstrating a high level of expertise.
Property Maintenance
The Wastewater Property Maintenance worker works very closely with
all the other plant trades. They work on routine maintenance as well
as new construction and building projects.
Safety: We are dedicated to a healthy and injury free work environment.
Electricians
The Electrician workgroup installs, maintains and repairs electrical
systems, instrumentation and equipment, and operates and maintains the
telemetry and computer systems, including the Supervisory Control and
Data Acquisition System (SCADA). Personnel in this group are
electricians and water systems telemetry and distributed control
specialists
Competitive: We perform our work in a cost effective and innovative manner, providing the best value.
Instrumentation
The wastewater plant has hundreds of sensors, meters, and process test
equipment that must be tested and calibrated to ensure proper plant
operation.
Customer Focused: We provide excellent service to our internal and external customers.
Water Systems Telemetry &
Distributed Control Specialist
The plant’s distributed control specialists work on the plant LAN system,
the intranet, desktops and their applications. All of the plant’s PLC
programming and SCADA systems are managed by this group. They are
also responsible for the plant automated security and camera system.
Team Focused: We value the contributions of our co-workers and care about each other's well being and development.
Technical Services / Engineering
• The Technical Services workgroup keeps up with needed rehabilitation, upgrades and all processes related to expansion projects within the treatment plant. This group manages projects that help maintain the facilities running competitively and safely. Professional engineers and engineering technicians form this group which is constantly looking into meeting the community’s current and future needs.
Team Focused: We value the contributions of our co-workers and care about each other's well being and development.
Power Generation Operator/Mechanics
The Wastewater Management Division’s power generation facility’s two
Gas Turbine Generators are capable of producing 8 megawatts of
electricity fueled by Methane and natural gas. The Methane is produced
at the plant as a by product of digesting sludge.
Environmental Stewardship: We provide for the protection and conservation of our land, air and water.
Environmental Control
• The Pretreatment Program is managed by the Environmental Service workgroup comprised of environmental control officers in charge of inspecting, permitting, monitoring and enforcing local, state and/or federal regulations for industrial users.
Environmental Stewardship: We provide for the protection and conservation of our land, air and water.
Laboratory Services
• The Laboratory Services workgroup works closely with the Environmental Services and Operations groups, ensuring timely production of data for the purpose of process control, revenue or pretreatment program, and mandated reporting information. A team of chemists and biologists work at a State Certified (ELAP) Environmental Laboratory
Professional: We perform our work in a courteous, conscientious and ethical manner while demonstrating a high level of expertise.
Protecting and developing the
wastewater and collection infrastructure.
• The facility has been upgraded through the years from the 8 septic
tanks built in 1907 to the 80 million gallons a day project that was
completed in 1998 and the current organic upgrade project due to be
completed in 2009. By plant staff constantly overcoming all conditions
and properly treating the current and future wastewater flows, the
community’s and the environment’s health and welfare are protected.
Competitive: We perform our work in a cost effective and innovative manner, providing the best value.
Protecting and developing the
wastewater and collection infrastructure.
• New regulations require elimination of sanitary sewer overflows.
Preventive maintenance, assessment of condition of sewer lines, use
of newest technology and well trained operators help achieve that
goal.
Competitive: We perform our work in a cost effective and innovative manner, providing the best value.
There is a wide variety of equipment utilized at the
Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility
Customer Focused: We provide excellent service to our internal and external customers.
The diverse skill set of the Mechanical Maintenance workgroups
includes complete design and build functions including Gas, Mig,
Tig, and Arc welding as well as plasma and gas cutting.
Professional: We perform our work in a courteous, conscientious and ethical manner while demonstrating a high level of expertise.
Over the years there have been many expansions, some of which
required the removal of existing structures. Plant staff have and will
continue to be key in some of these projects.
Competitive: We perform our work in a cost effective and innovative manner, providing the best value.
We are able to make many repairs in-house using the various
machine and millwright skills our mechanical maintenance staff
have.
Safety: We are dedicated to a healthy and injury free work environment.
