One of the outstanding geological features of this cave (and amajor reason for its NNL designation) is the profusion of helictitecrystals located in the Landmark Room. These unusual speleothemsor formations are probably created by hydrostatic pressure(although there is still some speculation on the exact cause) resultingin horizontal orientation.

    3. Bubblegum Alley is a local tourist landmark in downtown San

Luis Obispo, California, known for its accumulation of used bubblegum on the walls of an alley. It is 4.6 m high and 21 m long alley linedwith chewed gum left by passers-by. The locally created, "most-talked-about landmark" covers a stretch of 20 meters between 733and 734 Higuera Street in downtown San Luis Obispo.

    An alleyway

full of over-chewed, 40-year-old bubble gum sounds unpleasant, butcontrary to that belief many have started their own gummy

traditions to keep this alleyway a must-see. Not only is it thoughtthat the alley carries luck, but also signs of affection. On the wallsof the Alley couples show their love for each other in the form ofgum.
