MAIN SPECIFICATIONS

CLS has significant practical differences from the earlier machines. The major differences are as follows:

> Water Levels can be set by the height of water in the drum, or by the weight of water put into the machine

> The drum is suspended in the machine, so special foundations are not needed when it is installed

The machine is supplied pre-programmed for EN ISO 6330 : 2000, EN 26330 : 1993 and ISO 6330 : 1984. M & S and other programmes are supplied on a locked memory card.

Additional programmes can be supplied by HEALS or can be created by the user as required.

All programmes are tested to ensure that they are correct before they are supplied.

The machine’s construction and the materials and components used in its manufacture ensure reliability and long life.

UKAS Certificates of Calibration are also availiable.

Accudry Tumble DryerFOR EUROPEAN DRYING TESTS

From the team that introduced the world’s first standardised tumble dryer, specifically designed for laboratory stability tests, comes Accudry .

Textile laboratories carry out a wide range of tests, in which domestic laundering conditions are simulated. Domestic tumble dryers have not been designed with the needs of the textile testing laboratory in mind, with predictable problems of wide variation in performance from machine to machine and between different manufacturers. There have also been widespread problems of machine reliability and continuity of supply of particular models.

Responding to these challenges, James H. Heal developed Accudry , an air vented, reverse-action tumble dryer, designed to reduce machine variables and operator error to the absolute minimum.

Accudry conforms to the existing European requirements for Tumble Dryers for textile testing laboratories.

Washer & DryerFOR AMERICAN WASHING AND DRYING TESTS

Retailers and Producers in the United States normally use AATCC Washing Test Routines for their products. AATCC specify which Washing Machines and which Tumble Dryers conform to their Test Methods.

The machines specified by AATCC are domestic machines, sold in the USA under the name Kenmore. Equivalent models are exported under the name of Whirlpool. Only specific models taken from a large range of machines conform to the AATCC specification.

HEALS supply exactly the machines that conform to the AATCC specification to customers in any location in the world.

The machines are free-standing without the need for special foundations. The Washing Machines do not have heaters so connection to a hot and cold water supply is essential.

MEETING STANDARDS Testing is an important part of any production process and is the only way to ensure that products meet the standards customers require. The test results must be accurate and should correlate with the results from other laboratories.

CONFORMANCE Correct use of the required Test Methods and Standards is critical in order to produce accurate results. Only the machines, accessories and consumables specified in the Test Methods should be used. Our policy is always to supply exactly what is needed to conform to the Test Methods and Standards.

CALIBRATION Testing machines must perform consistently in order for them to produce accurate results. HEALS offer calibrated machines and will verify the performance of machines before delivery. HEALINK offers Servicing and Calibration in the field.

CONSISTENCY For washing tests, it is important to have a consistent machine load, consistent water quantity, accurate CONSISTENCY For washing tests, it is important to have a consistent machine load, consistent water quantity, accurate CONSISTENCYtemperature control and to use the corre-ct detergent.

For tumble drying, it is also important to have consistency. Load size, temperature, clean lint filters and correct cooling cycle are critical to allow accurate calculation of shrinkages.

Consistent conditions also give accurate results for Press Drying, Line Drying, Flat Drying and Drip Drying.

APPEARANCE Assessing appearance and creases after washing is very difficult. Correct viewing arrangements and the correct environment are critical for accuracy. HEAL’S technical support staff can advise on the techniques needed for these assessments.

TEST STANDARDS These principles are the same whether the customer is using European ISO Test Methods or the USA’s AATCC Test Methods.

In general, Europe and the USA use different machines, accessories and consumables for washing tests. Because of this, the treatment of the fabrics or garments is different. This means that it is very difficult to accurately correlate the results obtained from European ISO tests with those from the USA’s AATCC tests.

RETAILERS Some retailers, for example Marks and Spencer in the UK, have developed their own Test Methods and Procedures. They may also specify the machines, accessories and consumables that can be used for their testing. These procedures must be followed for the retailers in question and HEAL’S technical support staff will be happy to advise on all of these aspects.

CONFIRMING QUALITY Accurate washing tests give dyers and finishers control over their processes.CONFIRMING QUALITY Accurate washing tests give dyers and finishers control over their processes.CONFIRMING QUALITY

For products washed by the garment and product maker, washing test results help to ensure that garments and products are of the correct size, when they are delivered to the Retailer.

Washing test results are also used to ensure that, when the customer buys a garment or product, it will not shrink when it is washed in the home.

Assessing the non-iron, easy to iron appearance of the product after washing is often an important part of a finished product specification.

HEALS offer all of the items necessary to accurately assess these aspects of a fabric, garment or product’s performance.
