AssessmentMost of our courses are taught in manageable modules and you’ll need to complete different assessments to pass each module.

Many assignments are designed to imitate real workplace situations and Foundation degree assessment is often linked to your workplace or a work placement. Each piece of your work is checked by us and you’ll receive detailed feedback on how well you are doing and how to improve.

Some modules contain exams, depending on the course. Full details are given in the course handbook you will be given on enrolment.

Tutor supportWe ensure you have lots of time with your tutors. You can meet with your tutor on a regular basis to discuss your learning goals and progress.

Your year group will meet for common topics such as study skills or careers talks and some classes join together occasionally, so you can meet different students and benefit from a wide range of experiences.

Money mattersAn important consideration when choosing where to study must be the quality of your course. However, we also understand you may be concerned about the costs involved with studying higher education.

We have dedicated advisors on hand to help you find out what funding is available and how you can receive it.

Most students will be entitled to apply for a student loan and our student services team can help you to complete the necessary forms.

£750 bursaries are available to eligible full-time students. To find out more simply contact, [email protected] or call 0300 45 600 48

Accommodation From our new halls of residence at Pershore and Leamington to a range of rooms with local families, you can feel confident that we will find the right place for you.

On-site accommodation is offered at Pershore, Moreton Morrell and Leamington. For more information on all options, including homestay and residential bursaries, visit www.warwickshire.ac.uk/accommodation

Your pick… of qualif icationsWarwickshire College offers a diverse range of learning programmes, with many opportunities to fast-track or change career direction.

Our higher education qualifications are available to all students and are listed below.

Higher National Certificate (HNC) – usually a two-year part-time course, popular with employed students who attend college for one day or two evenings a week.

Higher National Diploma (HND) – usually a two-year full-time course, popular with school/college leavers who have completed a National Diploma, A-Levels or other equivalent qualifications.

Foundation degrees are vocational qualifications. Designed with the help of employers, they focus on technical/practical and academic skills.

Work-based learning is an essential part and the length of your course depends on the amount of work-based learning you undertake outside the college. Some courses can be studied over two years with college attendance just one day a week; others require full-time attendance with managed work placements.

As employers are involved in the design and review of courses, Foundation degree graduates are highly employable.

Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) is equivalent to the first two years of an Honours degree and is ideal for someone who wishes to study initially in a college environment and then progress onto the final year of a degree at a university.

Honours degrees are usually three year full-time courses with the possibility of including a work placement ‘sandwich’ year.

Warwickshire College offers a range of Honours degrees in vocational subject areas, which you can find on pages 8-23.

Sam and Claire’s Story Sam and Claire both studied at Warwickshire College’s Moreton Morrell Centre for six years, taking a First Diploma, a National Certificate, a Foundation Degree and finally a BSc in Animal Care. Claire now works in a dog grooming parlour and Sam works in the Animal Centre at Moreton Morrell.

Sam says, It’s been good. The animal welfare unit is really high class – the tutors really know their stuff and are specialists in their field. Our business, management and computing courses help students to develop an understanding of fundamental business principles allowing them to progress in their career or within higher education.

Our Foundation degree courses are an exciting addition to the higher education offer within the business department. Students can study either full or part-time in a vocational area to gain a Foundation degree in two years.

Our part-time Foundation degrees allow learners to use their current work experience to gain a full-time degree in part-time study hours. The FdA in Events Management requires students to not only take part in events but also complete work experience – as a result students gain invaluable work skills for career success.

The Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Business can also be studied part-time and full-time, offering a broad introduction to business.

The computing department is a grade one area of excellence and offers Higher National Certificates/Diplomas, plus a range of professional qualifications using the latest technology and thinking.

Student StorySarah SteelHND Advanced Practice in Work with Children and Families

Sarah’s Story After A levels, Sarah intended to go to university but as the time drew near, she became unsure and took a gap year to clarify her thoughts. She decided her future lay in working with children and the course at Warwickshire College seemed ideal. Having completed her course, Sarah is topping up her HND to a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education. She intends to take either a social work masters degree to work with children and families or primary teaching PGCE.

Sarah says, The course was excellent. I was in a small, friendly, close-knit group so it was all very personal. Not only that but the fees were much less than university. I honestly believe that, in terms of knowledge, experience and expertise, I have come out with just as much as a traditional university would have given me. The tutors were always available so I never felt that I was struggling for a moment. I would certainly recommend the course to others.
