My fellow members—

There has been SO much going on in our lodge this past month and we have MUCH to be proud of! It’s been fun to see new faces stop in for a meal or drink as well as new faces volunteering for many of our events including a record number of highway cleanup volunteers! Thank you all for being active members of our lodge - your pat-ronage and support are greatly appreciated.

Happy 4th of July!!!! This is a time for family and friends to enjoy time together as well as a time to remember why we are proud to be Americans! Those who were able to join us in June for Flag Day were reminded of the great battles fought for our freedom beneath our beloved “stars and stripes.” The Flag Day ceremony is one of my favorite rituals as an Elks member. If you are looking for another great opportunity to show your appreciation for our flag – plan to join us at the lodge on Monday, July 7th promptly at 5 PM. A group will gather that evening to take down the flags around town.

As the summer continues to fly by . . . please be sure to check out our calendar and invite your friends or family down to the lodge for a meal cooked by our fabulous cooking teams! Also, be sure to watch for our updated website at www.redwingelks.org!

In mid-July, Kevin and I will represent our lodge at the Grand Lodge Convention in New Orleans joining other Elks from across the Nation to conduct the business of our order. We’re always excited and energized to hear what’s happening from the Grand Lodge as well as gain ideas from all of the Elks we meet during our time at con-vention.

A quick reminder - - River City Days will be held the first weekend in August and we will again be hosting the beer tent AND running the parking. A LOT of volunteers are required to pull off this event so please watch for the sign-up sheets to be posted at the lodge – then grab a friend or two and sign up for a shift!

Thanks again to everyone for their

support – enjoy the summer!

Fraternally,

Steph Riegelman Exalted Ruler, PER

Thanks to all of our cooks that have helped this past month, especially the steak feed crew at the Izaak

Walton! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Coming up soon is River City Days and we will need LOTS of volunteers for that! We will be serving in the beer tent AND doing the parking. Charlie & Becky Nelson and I will be organizing the beer tent while Larry Larson will be coordinating the parking crew.

Watch for signups at the lodge to help out!

I’m looking for a guest chef to prepare a meal on Thursday, July 31st - contact me if you are interested.
