P R E S C H O O L SWell-rounded, nurturing, developmentally age-appropriateprograms and curriculums for young children ages 24 to57 months. We offer hands-on learning opportunities thatdevelop and expand social/emotional, physical, and cogni-tive capabilities through creative learning experiences.Group activities include the arts, with small focus groupsexploring pre-math, science, and early language/literacyexperiences.

Heather Farm and Civic Park Preschools are now partof Civic Arts Education programming. Doug Rowe, CivicArts program supervisor, has been working with the teach-ing staff on this transition and will be supervising bothprograms as well as the Fine Arts Preschool at theShadelands Art Center. The unique qualities and teachingstaff of all three of these developmental programs willremain the same. We are excited about this new partner-ship and look forward to continuing the quality develop-mental education to which we are committed.

The school year runs August 29–June 1, though newstudents may enroll anytime up until April 1, 2012.

Walnut Creek Sports Camp Age 9y-13yWe are offering a fully staffed and supervised recreational athletic camp. The program consists of 8 weeks of sessions with your choice of two different sportsfor each of the sessions with a 9th week session offering bowling. Our camp is specifically designed to teach and develop training skills, basic individual skills,sportsmanship, team strategies and concepts as well as building confidence and self discipline. Students and parents alike will be impressed by the dynamicrange of learning aides and carefully designed development plans usedthroughout this program. Little Rallyer (6-9 years old)The Lifetime Tennis Elite Future Stars program is for promising young playersthat demonstrate the skills necessary to become future tournament players.This program is designed to give our future stars rigorous training intechnique, footwork, and rallying skills. Youth Tennis (continued)Beginning, Adv. Beginning & Intermediate Levels:This 3 tiered introduction program is designed to develop early tennis skillsthat include stage 1, 2 and 3 balls, ground strokes (stationary and moving),serving (1/2 and full motion), volleys, overheads, and basic vocabulary.Students are grouped by age and ability levels the 1st day of class. Classgoal: to maintain “full court” rallies and serve 1 of 3 balls into correct servicebox while using proper technique. Graduates are encouraged to join the

Bronze, Silver & Gold program.

Bronze, Silver &GoldLevels:For students who graduatedfrom the Green, Blue & RedLevel program or can fulfill theprogram requirements. Studentswill learn topspin, under spinsidespin; add and reduce the

power to shots, and develop specialty shots. Program drills enhance quick-ness, balance and racquet control for improved consistency and accuracy.Class goal: Develop foundation to become a well-rounded tennis player,successfully play singles and doubles matches, and to play in local tennisleagues, school teams or tournaments.

Little Tennis &RallyerCampsSpecially designed tennis nets, racquets and low bouncing balls are used toprovide an enjoyable learning experience for younger players (4-6 years).Several short breaks are taken so that students can regain energy (bring asnack) and cool down (ice water provided). Little Tennis students will learnto recognize, demonstrate and successfully hit the forehand, backhand andserve. They will learn parts of the racquet and court, and improve coordi-nation and motor skills (i.e. balancing, overhand throwing, catching, shuf-fling). Little Rallyers will work to improve their full court abilities through aseries of drills and games.

Junior Improvement &MatchplayCamps:Students are grouped by age & ability levels on 1st day of class. Introductorystudents will learn & improve their forehand, backhand, volley, overheadand serve through our unique “court rotation and activity system.”Intermediate and Junior Team students will develop specialty shots and playin singles and doubles Round Robin Tournaments. The instructor(s) will helpplayers with scoring, rules and match strategy. Players should bring a snack;ice water is provided.

Adult Tennis (16 & Older)BeginningFor students with little or no previous tennis instruction. Students will beintroduced to the forehand, backhand, serve, and basic vocabulary. Classgoal: maintain a six-to-ten shot “short court” rally and serve an average of 1out of 3 balls into the correct service box.

Advanced BeginningFor students completing 10 or more hours of beginning tennis. In this level,we will be adding movement to groundstroke rallying and improving serv-ing technique. Class goal: maintain a full-court rally and serve an average of1 out of 2 balls into the correct service box.

Intermediate/AdvancedFor students who have completed 10-20 hours of advanced beginning ten-nis. Students will be introduced to volleys and overheads while improvingoverall confidence and consistency of the forehand, backhand and serve.Added movement becomes a key component at this level. Class goal: tobe able to play an actual singles or doubles match.

Drill ClassIntermediate course or instructor approval. Workouts cover ground strokes,volleys, overheads, and serving drills. A great class for those wanting tomove and hit lots of tennis balls.

Women’s Tennis AcademyThis innovative program is designed for 3.5 to 4.0 level players looking toimprove their results in interclub, USTA league/tournaments or just to fur-ther develop their game playing skills. Students will thrive in our rotatingcourt training system; which has produced fantastic results throughout localand national junior competitions.

Men’s Drill ClassTurn up your game with drills focused on movement and shot development.Classes are designed to maximize the number of balls hit per session. Eachlesson will include a variety of drills that cover a wide range of shots.

Doubles StrategyAlways poaching when you shouldn’t? Can’t figure out what to do againstthose tough pushers? The Doubles Strategy class will give you an edge overthe competition through proven techniques and strategies that that you canimplement in your game right away. The class will cover a variety of com-mon scenarios and playing styles to help tailor your game with the perfectstrategy.

Learnabout some of the world’s most interesting animals, near and far!Create your own animal sock puppets and birdhouses and hangon tight . . . Adventure awaits!

Dragons, Wizards, and Elves 8/1-8/5Wave your wands and scepters high in the air and call upon thespell of “Camperious Summerious Amazing-atrounus!” Conjurepotions and elixirs! Wear your camp’s colors with pride to theTournament o’ Champions! Grab your broomstick and head onover to the summer camp castle of wonder and imagination!

Pirates Week 8/8-8/12“Ahoy me hearties! Let us set out t’ sea ‘n search ferth’ finest treas-ures o’ th’ land!” There’s no better way to become a pirate than tojust pop on the pirates hat and sash, grab your eye-patch, anddefend your honor at Heather Yarrrrrr Park. Take your map andfind the buried treasures left by your ancestors. Design and createyour own treasure chest and pirate flags. Wave it around with prideto let all other scallywags know that this is your territory! Walk along-side theWalnut Creek Buccaneers or walk the plank!
