Voluntary Sector

Want to support young people in your local community?

We are working to support long term 18-24 year olds back into employment!

Working across Medway, Swale, Thanet and Dover, we are matching young people with fantastic volunteers, who are supporting them into training, work experience and employment or enterprise.

In order to do this we need the support of amazing local volunteer mentors who are willing to share their knowledge and experience in helping young people to realise and reach their full potential.

Do you, your colleagues, friends or staff members have the time to support local young people to reach their potential?

If so, would you please promote the volunteering vacancy with your colleagues, and also any partners or friends that you feel would be interested! We are also available to discuss the possibility of starting

staff volunteering programmes; are always on hand to come to team meetings and or individual conversations for anyone that may be interested in the role.

Please find attached the volunteer role description for promotion with your peers. Our volunteers are imperative in supporting young people across the county, and this is an incredible opportunity to

undertake a rewarding role and give something back.

If you or anyone you know has any questions or queries then please do not hesitate to contact me on 07436797258/ [email protected].

Health Information

Sittingbourne and Sheppey Fibromyalgia Support Group will hold their next meeting on Thursday 2nd July. We will meet in Phoenix

House in Central Ave Sittingbourne at 12.30-2.30 when we will have a local GP coming to tell us about the challenges that we 'Fibros'

present to the medical profession and any new ideas which may help both us and them to manage our condition.

We are a friend voluntary support group offering support to those

with Fibromyalgia and their carers, friends and relatives. There is no charge to join and we have a lot of information on the condition and

how it can affect our lives. There will be refreshments and a raffle, donations of prizes are always very welcome. Due to insurance restrictions we are sorry that we cannot accommodate children

unless they have the condition themselves.

Please contact Jean on 01795 471324 or email [email protected] for more

information.

Health Information

We need your help! We want you to be involved from the beginning.

NHS England is reviewing vascular surgery in Kent and Medway following the latest recommendations from the Vascular Society. We need your help to ensure all patients in Kent and Medway get the best and fastest treatment in the future. At the same time, the eight Kent and Medway NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups are reviewing the quality of stroke services in Kent and Medway to ensure they can meet the national standards and give everyone the best quality care. The NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups plan and pay for your local healthcare.

Do you rely on these services, or have you used these in the past? Together we are holding a series of listening events across Kent and Medway in July 2015 and we would like to hear from you. We invite you as patients, carers or interested people from the local communities to attend.

You can find details of the listening events in West Kent on the enclosed poster. Please pass these details on to anybody you may know who has an interest in: stroke, care for diabetes, vascular surgery or amputations, blood clots or aneurysms – all of which may be dealt with by vascular or stroke services.

For more information, or to register your attendance, please contact Lisa Blumson on 03000 424061 or email us at [email protected]

Thank you for your interest and look forward to meeting you and hearing your views about these important services.

Kind Regards

Sara Warner Principal Associate Engagement Please find the flyer on the next page.

Funding

Pilot Childcare Investment Readiness Fund Launched in England

The Childcare Investment Readiness Fund (CIRF) is a £500,000 pilot fund, managed by the Social Investment Business on behalf of the Department for Education, to support

Early Years and Childcare Social Enterprises looking to expand their presence in the early years and childcare market.

The aim of the Fund is to help Early Years and Childcare Social Enterprises (EYCSEs) become better equipped to secure new forms of investment.

To be eligible, the proposed work must be designed to prepare the EYCSE to raise repayable investment of at least £100,000 to help expand their services into new

locations. The funded activities must be carried out over a period of six to nine months and be completed before 31 March 2016.

The Fund offers both business support and financial support in the form of grants of between £25,000 and £50,000. Grants will be awarded primarily to fund revenue costs. It

is expected that around 15 grants will be awarded.

Organisations must first register their interest in the fund before accessing and completing the application form on the SIB website.

Applications must be formally submitted by email by an approved CIRF provider with an EYCSE. The application is a joint application although the CIRF will formally contract with

the EYCSE, if the application is successful.

The deadline for applications is 17 July 2015 (noon).
