An agreement that interferes with a person’s right to engage him in a lawful business, trade, occupation or profession is called an agreement in restraint of trade. “ Every agreement by which any one is restrained from exercising a lawful profession, trade or business of any kind, is to that extent is void” (sec.27)

Sec.28 says,” Every agreement by which any party is restricted absolutely from enforcing his right under a contract, by the usual legal proceedings in the ordinary Tribunals, or which limits the time within which he may enforce his rights, is void to that extent.

A and B are parties to a contract. Both agree that in case of breach of contract, they would not go to court. This is a void agreement

Agreements by the meaning of which is not certain, or capable of being made certain, are void. (Sec 29)

Wager means a bet. A wager is an agreement to pay

money or money’s worth on the happening or non happening of a future event.

Wagering agreement are void. In case of breach of such

agreements nothing can be recovered from court.

An agreement to contribute to the payment of a prize of the value of Rs. 500 or more to the winners of any horse race is valid.
