Hyperlinking = linking to a website, video, document or slide that is different or outside of your current presentationAdvantage – fast forward/rewind controlDisadvantage – opens a different window, you leave your presentation

Embedding = placing a document, video, sound, image, etc within the framework of your slideAdvantage – looks pretty, you stay within your presentationDisadvantage – lose ability to fast forward and rewind

Steps for Embedding

1. Go up to Insert

2. Go to Movies and Sounds

3. Select Movie from file

4. Navigate to the file that you downloaded

5. Double click the file and it will embed the video into your PowerPoint slide

Tip: This also works for audio files, except you select Sound options instead

Now for something really cool Really Embedding – Windows Based

1. Go to your tool bar and click on the word View

2. Click on Toolbars and then Control Tool Box

This will bring up a box that looks like this:

Really Embedding Continued3. Click on the Hammer And Wrench Icon

4. Scroll down and choose Windows Media Player

This will change your cursor to a + symbol –Giving you the ability to draw a box

5. Draw a box and then right-click on the box and choose Properties

Almost there…6. Click inside the blank box next to the box titled Custom and then click on the three little dots

7. Click on the Browse button to find the video that you want to embed, then check the Stretch to fit button and then click on the OK button

Tip: I usually uncheck the Auto Start Playback option so that I can manually start the video

You have “really embedded” a video with full control of

forward, rewind, pause, and sound.

Full Screen Zoom With “Really Embedding”

• This will definitely get their attention!

• Right click the window and select Full Screen while playing the video in presentation mode.

• It works great to toggle between full screen and the presentation using the ESC key.

during lessons.

On Demand Notes and Markups = • Highlight text• Circle images• Illustrate concepts• Point out teachable moments• Move backward and forward through slides

- Move your cursor over the far bottom left hand corner of the slide during presentation mode for the tools to become visible.

- Once tools are visible left click them to activate available options.

- Play around with them and make your presentations more interactive!
