Visitor Arrivals Reached 1.3 Million Visitors
in the First Four Months of 2011
Inbound visitors to the Philippines for the first four months of 2011 aggregated to1,306,944 posting an increase of 13.33% versus last years arrival of 1,153,198 for thesame months. The month of January recorded the biggest arrivals of 349,713 visitors while
the highest growth rate wasrecorded in February with 18.52%.
Visitors from the East Asianregion continued to account thebiggest source of arrivals with ashare of 44.50% for a total of581,551 visitors. It recorded anincrease of 18.90% compared to489,122 arrivals in 2010. Korea wasthe biggest contributor of arrivals
numbering 286,018 capturing21.88% of the total volume. Taiwan,on the other hand, recorded thebiggest growth at 42.68% among thecountries from this region.
The North American region was the second biggest group contributing 274,613arrivals for 21.01% share to the overall traffic. This region posted an increase of 10.31%compared to its contribution of 248,955 arrivals the previous year. The ASEAN is the thirdsource market with 103,715 arrivals yielding 7.94% share with an increase of 10.04% thanits year-ago arrivals of 94,250.
Visitors from Australasia/Pacific region constituted 5.62% of the total inbound trafficwith 73,483 arrivals. This figure was 16.25% higher than the 63,212 arrivals a year ago.Visitors from Northern Europe was up by 10.20% versus its year-ago volume of 54,535. Itconstituted 4.60% of the total inboundtraffic.
While visitors from Koreacontinued to account the bulk ofarrivals, Japan remained the thirdbiggest market with 129,223 visitors.This market grew by 8.09% with a
share of 9.89% to total volume. TheChinese market came in strong as thefourth biggest market contributing71,113 arrivals for a share of 5.44%.This market grew by 18.54% comparedto its contribution the previous year.The fifth biggest generator of arrivals isAustralia with 56,681 arrivals for a share of 4.34%. This market grew by 20.84% comparedto its year-ago arrivals.
