The Australian Christian College (ACC) Group of Schools is a ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ. We are motivated by God’s purposes, raising up young men and women to serve Him.

Christian Education Ministries (CEM) has a 4 year plan for ACC, which includes increasing student enrolments and improving the quality of education being delivered within each school.

This strategy builds upon our successes and ensures that ACC has a clear direction for the next 4 years.

To achieve this outcome, the CEM Board has endorsed the vision together with a set of objectives and actions which are outlined in this document. It is a clear statement of what we hope to achieve by 2015.

The plan commenced in January 2012 and concludes December 2015.

OBJECTIVE ONE

AN EFFECTIVEMODELFOR OPERATING ACC SCHOOLS

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Systematising the operation of our schools using a standardised model will maximise each schools chance of succeeding and allow for economies of scale to be utilised.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Document the ACC model for operating a school

» Gain CEM Board approval for the documented model

» Modify operations at existing ACC schools to comply with the approved model

» Apply the model whenever new ACC schools are acquired.

Page 7: Vision 2015 Strategic Plan

KEY ACTIONS:

» Develop courses that teach, reinforce and nurture spiritual understanding and maturity

» Enhance the academic program with further development of the learning program and pedagogy

» Implement joint initiatives with external partners which encourage student servant-heartedness and aim to enhance their social skills

» Conduct school activities with a significant outdoor education component

» Develop a sports program including inter-school competition teams

» Develop comprehensive music and arts programs for our schools.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

A balanced education with a breadth of experiences will provide students with a better opportunity to identify their God-given gifts and assist them when assimilating into the workforce and society.

INCREASEIN

THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS

ACC SCHOOLS

OBJECTIVE THREE

Page 9: Vision 2015 Strategic Plan

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Christian schooling provides students with a biblical foundation for life.

This foundation provides assurance in knowing how they were made, what their individual missions are and God’s promises for their lives. For some students, school may be the only place where they learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Christian schooling minimises the negative impact of secular influences, provides a safe environment for students, supports the spiritual beliefs of Christian parents, develops students who possess good morals and encourages a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We believe God is calling us to widen our reach.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Conduct marketing programs and events at new and existing ACC schools to generate additional enrolments

» Work with the Victorian State Government to allow ACC Hume to offer distance education

» Expand ACC Hume and Darling Downs to include high school grades

» Expand ACC Marsden Park distance education to include Years 11 and 12

» Raise awareness within the education sector that CEM is looking to expand the ACC Group of Schools.

LEARNING PROGRAMS

NATIONALLYRELEVANTWITH A CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW

OBJECTIVE FOUR

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

As a national network of schools, we are uniquely placed to benefit from the collective wisdom and vary-ing perspectives of teachers and students around the country.

Nationally relevant learning programs will allow us to utilise this vast wealth of intellectual capital for the benefit of all students in our network, regardless of their geographic location.

What’s more, students need to learn from a Christian worldview that is aligned to the community in which they will live and work as adults.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Develop learning program teams that operate across the ACC schools with national heads

» Introduce challenge-based and inquiry learning models that go above and beyond compliance requirements.

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM,

AN EFFECTIVE

OBJECTIVE FIVE

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Almost every study on school education conducted in the world concludes that it is the quality of the teachers which impacts greatest on the quality of the education.

In pursuit of Christian education excellence, we must develop excellent Christian teachers.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Establish the parameters for a teacher development program in collaboration with school leaders

» Build the teacher development program

» Administer and monitor the program to ensure effectiveness.

A MARKET LEADERIN DIGITAL LEARNING

OBJECTIVE SIX

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Given that the ACC Group of Schools is the largest non-government provider of distance education in Australia, we have a responsibility to lead the development of digital learning, for the benefit of all our students.

Importantly, whilst distance education is the driver for our ongoing development of digital learning, on campus students also reap the benefits of our capabilities in this area.

Improved digital learning correlates with better student results. What’s more, it improves student engagement, allows students to network with peers and equips them with IT skills for workforce readiness.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Equip ACC teachers with the necessary ‘digital skills’

» Resource classrooms and students with the appropriate technology to facilitate digital learning

» Incorporate a digital component into all teacher professional development (PD) sessions

» Encourage teachers to integrate digital technology into their lessons

» Continually look for ways to make digital technology more user friendly for teachers, parents and students.

OBJECTIVE SEVEN

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The development of a brand reputation for ACC will ensure new enrolments are generated year after year. A positive brand reputation attracts students to a school without the necessity for constant and excessive advertising expenditure.

KEY ACTIONS:

» Implement visual branding guidelines when conducting any marketing programs at ACC schools

» Conduct experience mapping at each school in an attempt to increase parent satisfaction

» Survey parent satisfaction levels at the schools annually

» Enter schools and students into relevant award programs to raise brand awareness while developing a positive reputation.

The CEO of CEM is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this Strategic Plan.

The CEM Board will continue to take an active role in ensuring ACC is moving toward its vision and achieving the objectives.

Successful implementation of this plan will ultimately require every team member to ‘step up’ for the benefit of the children in our care.

Let us be motivated by God’s commission.
