the vehicle for anything other than NRVVCC club outings. Vehicles not on log book, the member should phone/email the secretary when a movement is needed for anything other than club outings.

13 members in 6 club & 3 modern cars met at 9.00 am for morning tea in Riverside Park on a bright sunny day. At 10.00 am we walked through the Park to the Museum & spent about an hour checking out the displays.
The Museum’s main exhibition is displayed in the former Council Chamber of the heritage-listed former Lismore Municipal Building. Local rainforest timbers line the walls of the museum & exhibitions include displays of Aboriginal culture, European settlement and the region’s history in industry & shipping.
Members who attended – Jim Hayward (Modern), John Gill (1927 Essex), Ron Hawkins (1929 Dodge), Geoffrey & Elizabeth Campbell (1966 Mustang), Ian & Rosemaree McLeod (VW Kombie) Norm & Kathleen Clapham (modern), Chris & Narelle Loadsman (1929 Chev), Graham Paff (1934 Ford) & Meryl Lovell (Modern)

Club Outing 15/9/19 ←18/7/2004
15/9/2019→
9 cars left Lismore for the trip to Lawrence with
another 5 cars joining us at Casino & 2 more at
the morning tea stop, in all 13 club cars & 3 modern cars.
The group travelled south on the Summerland Way,
stopping at the rest area south of the Rappville turnoff for
morning tea. From there it was on to Lawrence, parking
next to the Clarence River and taking in the beautiful
views.
Next it was time for
lunch, some
choosing to enjoy a
picnic in the park
while others enjoyed lunch at the Lawrence Hotel.
After lunch photos were taken of cars & members.
There was an option of 2 different directions home, some
taking the opportunity to travel across the river by ferry
to Maclean then along the newly constructed north bound
lanes of the Motorway where speed on this section is restricted to 80 kph.
Police Citizen’s Youth Club & Summerland Sports & Classic Car Show
What a great collection of vehicles from the past. Street machines, Hot Rods, classics, Vintage & Veteran cars & motor cycles all came together to attract the attention of young & old alike. The Summerland Sports & Classic car club & PCYC joined together to help raise funds for Safer Driver Courses for Learner Drivers, a very worthwhile cause.
Eight members of the Northern Rivers Vintage & Veteran Car Club took part in the day with vehicles from the 1920’s through to 1980 & some older folk remember riding in or driving these vehices when they were young. At around 1pm trophies were awarded to the owners of vehicles, of various catogories, however there would never be a garage big enough at our place to house many of these
vehicles of the day,I’d like to own. NRVVCC ATTENDANCE – N Boon – 1934 Ford Tabletop Truck, R&M Lovell – Fiat Coupe, C Loadsman – 1929 Chev. Tourer, S Saunders – 1954 Siddley Sedan, R Hawkins – 1929 Dodge Sedan, A Johnston – 1934 Plymouth Coupe, R Johnston – XJS Jaguar, N&R Hambly – 1936 Plymouth Sedan. EDITOR
LOOKING BACK
Redex Trials of the 1950’s The start of the Redex Legend that originated in 1953 “Redex
Reliability Trial,” remains as a watershed in endurance rallies in
Australia. Up to that time it was the second longest trial ever staged in the world (the
previous longest had been from New York to Paris in 1908)
The Redex Reliability trial thatwas held in 1953 was at a time when
the majority of Australia’s roads either didn’t exist or were in a poor
state of repair. Even the Melbourne to Sydney stint, which is
considered a fairly easy Drive today, was hard going for the drivers
with dusty tracks serving as roads in place of modern motorways.
The Round Australia Trial The Round Australia Trial was a motorsport rally which was ran on multiple occasions
between 1953 and 1998. The theme of the event was to stage a rally which circumnavigated
Australia.

The two millionth Model A Ford rolled off the production line. Also called the A, &A-bone
among rodders and customers, this automobile was the second huge success for the Ford

$385 for a roadster to us $1400 for the top od the line town car.
The engine wa a water cooled L-head in line4-cylinder with a top speed of around 65 mph
(105 klmh). The transmission was a conventional 3-speedsliding gear manual
unsynchronised unit with a single speed reverse. The model A had 4 wheel mechanical
drum brakes. The 1930 and 31 modles were available with stainless steel radiator cowling
and headlamp housings.
The model A came in a wide variety of styles including a Coupe, (Standard & Deluxe)

uncommon to drivers of other makes. The ModEL A’s fule tank was situated in the cowl
between the engine compartment’s fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visial fuel guage
and the fuel flowed to the carbuetor by gravity. The Model A was the first to have safety
