Dear Parents,

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a

summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching

the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.

As summer vacation approaches, students and their families are looking

forward to many wonderful events. During this time of the year children

usually divert their energy to outdoor activities and games. However,

a mass lockdown in the country has forced everyone to stay at home.

So, parents need to opt for activities which would keep their children

engaged and safe.

Playing intellectually stimulating games: Self quarantine or lockdown

should be seen by parents as a way to spend quality time with

their children. This is an ideal time for the parents to engage their

children in board games like Chess, Lego, Scrabble etc. which

stimulate them intellectually and improve their focus.

Practice yoga and meditation: Parents should practice

yoga and meditation with their children to soothe their nerves.

Parents may also bring about a system of performing a physical

activity like Zumba or any home workout with

their children for10 - 15 minutes on a regular basis to keep them

active and agile.

Inculcate good habit: This is also a good time for parents to

inculcate habits like reading, gardening, cooking (without fire)

and other household chores. These are essential life skills which

will help them to become independent and self reliant and instill

in them the importance of respecting all kinds of labour.

The pandemic is real and hence, the precautions we need to take are also important.

As they say, in every situation, there is always a silver lining. We just need to open

our eyes to it. This crisis perhaps gives us the opportunity to disconnect with the

outdoor madness, stay home, connect with our dear ones, recuperate and pray that

this too shall pass, very soon!

could go off to far off places wherever you want and explore a new world of imagination.

• Read any story book of your choice.

• Write about anyone character you liked the most in the story. Draw a related picture also.

• Find TEN NOUNS from the story and write them.

*Address it to yourself. Write your name and address in beautiful handwriting.

*See if you can find one thing in your home that starts with each letter of the alphabet.

MATHEMATICS

1. Learn tables 2 to 20.

2. On an A-4 size sheet (or any other sheet) make your own game of Snakes and Ladders

using Roman Numerals from 1 to 100. Also make your own dice numbered from 1 to 6.

3. Draw and colour rangoli design using different geometrical shapes. Decorate it using

different decorative material.(A-4 size sheet)

4. Make a list of the number of tube lights, fans, switchboards, windows , tables, chairs and

mobile phones available in your home.Write the number in Roman numeral. Format is

shown below to record your data. (A-4 size sheet)

1. Collect five different types of leaves and make a colourful pattern by leaf printing( use water

colours for leaf printing). Make a list of 5 things in your home that are made from plants and

trees. Draw, colour and label them.

2. Collect information about OZONE LAYER. How does it save our environment? Also draw

one poster related to it.

3. Collect information about the following:

a) 2 insectivorous plants

b) 2 desert plants

c) 2 underwater plants

( Also draw and colour them)

(Note : All the work given above should be done on coloured A 4 sheets)

SOCIAL SCIENCE

1. Read the lessons covered from the book thoroughly and learn revision sheets.

2. Do practice of maps done till now.

3. Prepare a project in a scrap file on the topic ‘Northern Plains’

Instruction:

• The project should be in student’s handwriting.

• It should be well researched and presented.

• Relevant pictures should be pasted.

• You can refer Lesson – 3 from your book.

• It should contain following pages:

a) Index

b) Description of all the River Basins with relevant pictures in 10 – 15 lines.

c) Describe the life around the River Basins.

d) Describe the mainstates covered by these Basins in 2 – 3 lines.
