Your assignment is to write a one page letter home and assume that it has somehow passed censorship. (*you could also assume the role of a nurse) The letter should use facts to help create a vivid image of what the war experience was like. It should also aim to illustrate the effects of new technology on the way war was fought. it should have a personal feel, reflective of a letter written during wartime. Finally, it should include a drawing of what your time in the trenches or on the Western Front looked like. You must also create a short half page letter in response to the first letter from the Homefront. Please take a few notes while we are watching the film “Passchendaele” to help you write this assignment. Also, use pages 37-47 to follow up on the Canadian battles and Homefront. You are to pretend that you are a Canadian soldier* fighting in the trenches on the western Front during WWI. Your assignment is to write a one page letter home and assume that it has somehow passed censorship. (*you could also assume the role of a nurse) The letter should use facts to help create a vivid image of what the war experience was like.
