Assistant Professor in Fashion Design, Marketing and Communication Non-Tenure Track- Appointment Beginning August 2014

School of Fashion and Design By recognizing and developing individual potential, the School of Fashion and Design educates and challenges students to negotiate the dynamic, global marketplace as distinctive, creative, ethical professionals. The Fashion Program is an invited participant in the Education Initiatives Programs sponsored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for the 2013-14 school year.

Responsibilities: Teaching and advising undergraduate students in the Fashion Program Service to the College and continued professional development and scholarship Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced courses within the Fashion

Program

Specific course assignments will be dependent on qualifications. Courses taught may include but are not limited to:

o visual merchandising and designo technology for fashion presentationo art direction and photo stylingo fashion promotional eventso fashion design & product developmento internship courseso survey of fashiono history of costume and museum related scholarshipo fashion show productiono creative directiono and apparel construction

Working closely with faculty and the dean of the School of Fashion and Design, the successful candidate will have the ability to shape the on-going development of the fashion curriculum across the four Fashion Program degrees.

Required qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in the fashion industry within the

areas of fashion product development, fashion presentation and/or visual merchandising Terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) with at least one degree in fashion or apparel Evidence of ability to manage and coach groups toward mastery of the skills needed to

succeed in the global fashion marketplace Demonstrated accomplishments in developing connections with industry to provide

opportunities for student and departmental projects Strong skill base in both written and visual communications that come from an informed

fashion perspective The ideal candidate will have significant experience in fashion promotional event

production

Preferred qualifications: M.S./M.A. or MBA with at least one degree in fashion or apparel Experience with Visual Retail Software, Adobe Creative Suite, Gerber Patternmaking,

Kaledo, TMS/museum collections management software
