Integrated learning experience guidelines
Rich, structured learning experiences are deep, meaningful multi-modal learning experiences that help develop 21st century skills, are focused on standards and learning objectives, and make use of data and assessment.
Project must:
be creative, enjoyable, engaging be connected to an interdisciplinary theme-based unit be aligned to MA Common Core State Standards involve writing in either the planning process or final product develop academic and 21st century skills be a tool for both learning and assessment be scaffolded/differentiated (up or down) for those students who need it be introduced to students with clear expectations, timelines, a model and a rubric (these can be
developed in conjunction with students) include some choices made by students take between 2 and 10 hours of student work time be displayed or performed for an audience
Project must demonstrate:
artistic creativity and craftsmanship high level grasp of essential understandings of unit academic skills 21st century skills: creative thinking and problem solving, collaboration, and communication presentation skills good work habits: time management skills, organization, perseverance serious effort
Teachers and others (audience members, classmates etc. as desired) should rate the project presentation on elements above on a scale from one to four, with evidence provided. See below for rubric sample.
