We left the school in the morning and arrived at 3MTR around 9.25 a.m. On reaching the site, we approached the concerned officer-in-charge, Sir Adinath, who was instructed to take us around the site. We tracked around the entire area, with our first stop being at the mess and kitchen area. We were delighted to observe the manner in which the food was being prepared for around 300 soldiers and we were offered piping hot tea and a couple of hot chappaties, which we relished. Next, we were taken to an area where a soldier displayed various weapons (guns) and gave a detailed explanation about them, with regards to the parts of the gun, the manner it has to be held while firing, the distance , etc. This explanation was received with much curiosity and awe.

This was followed by a visit to the training area, where the soldiers were busy training. A few of them displayed their climbing skills using ropes, both vertically and horizontally. The children were truly fascinated with their skills and cheerfully clapped to express their appreciation. Thereafter, we were taken to another area to witness a couple of soldiers, firing guns at fixed targets. It was really interesting to observe them. We also watched them march smartly , during the marchpast.

We expressed our sincere thanks and appreciation to the officer-in-charge and presented him, with a ‘thank you, card. We were back in school by 1.00 p.m. Everyone enjoyed the outing, which was truly an eye-opener and appreciated the soldiers, who sacrifice their all, to protect us. God bless them.
