CrocsGrowing its global payments footprint
To ensure it was able to deliver a consistent service across global
markets, the company needed a payments technology provider
that could:
• Support both major credit cards and local payment methods.
• Easily integrate with Demandware and process payments
across all Crocs’ e-commerce markets.
• Support local languages and currencies, as well as local banking
and cash management.
The solution: Adyen’s Demandware LINK cartridge and
global platform
Adyen offers a LINK cartridge plug-in for Demandware, which provides
a smooth integration between the two solutions. Crocs simply opened
an account with Adyen, installed the cartridge, and made minor
configuration changes to customize the integration.
About Crocs
Founded in 2002, Crocs is a global footwear brand that has sold
more than 200 million pairs of shoes in more than nearly 100
countries around the world, reaching $1 billion in annual sales
in 2011.
The challenge: Consolidating multiple e-commerce platforms
Prior to partnering with Adyen, Crocs already had an established
global e-commerce presence. However, as it expanded, managing
multiple platforms across global markets became costly and
inefficient. In a move to streamline its payments-related processes
and improve the shopper experience, the company consolidated
its e-commerce website onto a single platform.
Crocs chose Demandware to provide a service that would enable it
to develop and manage its e-commerce websites centrally. Initially
the Demandware implementation was rolled out alongside Crocs’
legacy payment processors. However issues arose as providers in
some markets were unable to keep pace with the required level of
innovation and customer-centricity.

Results: Streamlined operations, increased authorizations
The partnership with Adyen has delivered two key benefits
to Crocs.
First, the consolidation of its global payments operations
significantly reduced the costs and workload involved with the
payments function, freeing up internal resources to focus on
other valuable goals.
Second, the company’s increased support for local payment
methods, along with its deep data analytics, has helped Crocs
increase authorization rates significantly across key global
markets outside of the US and Canada.
Commenting on the relationship, Bierman said: “Adyen has
become instrumental for Crocs in its international e-commerce
expansion, and has become a trusted partner with a strong
understanding of payment methods and a commitment to
Crocs’ success.”
“As we ran all our international e-commerce businesses on the
Demandware platform, we were able to leverage the LINK cartridge
from Adyen to implement a standard payment processor easily across
all our markets outside the US and Canada,” Bierman said.
Furthermore, the Adyen payments platform provides a single global
solution that supports all key payment methods globally, meaning that
Crocs would have the ability to deliver a better shopper experience
by supporting local payment methods in any market around the
world. In Europe, Crocs now partners with Adyen to support key local
payment methods such as iDEAL, Giropay, SOFORT, Mister Cash, and
Finnish eBanking. In Asia, Adyen enables Crocs to support JCB in Japan
and real-time bank transfers via Inicis in Korea. And across Europe,
Australia, and Singapore, with Adyen Crocs also offers Paypal.
Finally, the Adyen payments platform has a built-in risk management
solution, RevenueProtect, which draws on deep data analytics in order
to fine-tune the balance between stopping fraudsters and approving
genuine shoppers.
“As experts in the payment processing field, Adyen understands risks
in our markets and captures data from customers. The Adyen team
owns that level of responsibility for us, really helping us manage our
business and be successful. We depend on Adyen to manage fraud
risks,” said Bierman.
“Prior to Adyen, we weren’t able to be as local as we wanted,
especially in relation to our businesses in the Pacific. We faced
challenges supporting proprietary payment methods in Korea
and complexities with our acquiring bank in Australia. We really
needed to find another solution that allowed us to support
all these markets locally.”

Technology and Operations at Crocs, Inc.
