Key Responsibilities Family and Individual Counselling Throughout the counselling process, utilise a systems theory framework and apply other models of couples counselling and group facilitation as appropriate. Apply knowledge of issues specific to couples who may be separating or remarrying. Demonstrate and use knowledge of theories regarding power, intimacy and sexuality. Utilise appropriate interventions and link to a treatment plan that is congruent with relationship history, the issues the couple present with, and the impact of relationship issues on any children in the family. Conduct client assessment and intake of client needs to make client appointments, provide relevant information and make appropriate referrals, and link to a treatment plan. Program Specific Apply knowledge of the impact of military culture on individuals, the couple and the family. Liaise with VVCS intake officer and/or admin to ensure a smooth referral process. File Management and Duty of Care Maintain confidentiality and duty of care, including identification and assessment of DFV, child safety, self-harm or threat of harm to self or others, and other Risk Factors, and take appropriate steps as required by organisational policy and procedure. Maintain appropriate client files, case notes and Risk Management documentation as per organisational policy and procedure. Other Maintain computer based diary management systems to enable effective and informed client bookings. Where directed assist with the provision of administrative and general office duties. Understand and meet legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data in a timely and accurate manner. About You To be successful in this position you will have:

Required Highly Desired

Qualifications Relevant Undergraduate Qualification in Psychology or Social Work

Postgraduate qualification in social work or psychology

Full registration with APHRA as a psychologist, or accreditation (or eligibility for accreditation) as a Mental Health Social Worker

Experience Experience of delivering counselling services to clients in a variety of settings, for example individuals, couples, children, young people, families and groups

Previous clinical experience in managing high volumes of complex caseloads

Experience working with clients in crisis situations

Experience working with clients who are separating or at risk of separation

Knowledge Knowledge and application of current and relevant legislation and regulations relating to relationships counselling

Knowledge and application of Family Systems theories, developmental psychological theories and family violence

Knowledge of military culture and the mission of the Australian Defence Force

Skills Competent in computer use (Microsoft Office, email web based programs and have the ability to learn new programs and applications)

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
