-The Vegas Golden Knights became the first expansion team in NHL history to start with a 3-0-0 record, besting the Oakland Seals andLos Angeles Kings who both started the 1967-68 season with a 2-0-1 record.-James Neal is off to a hot start for the Golden Knights, scoring the first two goals in franchise history against the Dallas Stars and theovertime winner against the Arizona Coyotes one night later. He added his fourth and fifth goals of the year in the Golden Knights 5-2win over Arizona and posted his fourth consecutive game with a goal, scoring his sixth goal of the season against Detroit. Neal becamethe first player in NHL history to score the first two game winning goals in a franchise’s history and he joined Real Cloutier of theQuebec Nordiques as the only players in the expansion era to score five or more goals in an expansions team’s first three games. Hissix goals rank tied for second in the NHL only behind Alex Ovechkin who has nine goals.-Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Vadim Shipachyov, a 30-year-old Russian-born forward making his NHL debut, scored the game-winning goal for the Vegas Golden Knights in their 3–1 victory against the Bruins. Since 1967–68, when the league expanded to 12teams, the only other player to make his NHL debut with a first-year expansion club and score the game-winning goal in his first gamewas Hall of Famer Gilbert Perreault. He did that in the first game in Buffalo Sabres history, a 2–1 victory over the Penguins inPittsburgh on Oct. 10, 1970. Perreault, who was 19 years old at the time, was selected by the Sabres with the first overall pick in the1970 Amateur Draft. EXPANSION DRAFT SELECTIONThe Golden Knights selected William Carrier from the Buffalo Sabres during the Expansion Draft on June 21.COLIN MILLER REGULAR SEASON STATS
