Our Focus
Vaxt is an independently owned medical marketing agency in beautiful Madison, WI, that serves clients in the animal health and nutrition, human health, medical device, pharmaceutical and agribusiness industries.
Our name is derived from växt which is Swedish for growth or to grow which is perfect because our focus is on solving positioning and communications problems for upstarts and existing companies that need new life.
Our agency was founded on the idea that integrated marketing and advertising was more than about pretty pictures and cute slogans. Any agency can do that. We knew that if our work didn’t increase our clients’ brand awareness and bottom line then it was a waste of their time and money. If we didn’t listen to our clients and their customers we’d miss the point. If we weren’t nimble we’d lose the chance. So from day one our goal was to focus on doing just that–listening and delivering kickin’ results.
The bottom line is we work hard to make our clients look good and make more money.

To us full-service means whatever it takes to move your brand and bottom-line in the right direction–from planning to executing cool and smart creative deliverables to market development and everything in between. We’re growth oriented and we know what counts is pretty simple–looking good to your consumers and investors and making sure you’re making more money. Our clients count on us because they know we get it. We know we have to be nimble and we have to be creative not only with content but with budgets. The bottom line is our clients know we will respond to their needs with a sense of urgency and do whatever it takes to ensure the successful completion of even the most difficult projects, on time and on budget.

This expertise–in competitors, challenges and emerging consumer needs – has enabled us to create nuanced identities and campaigns that resonate with audiences. Oh, and our experience also flattens out the learning curve so we can hit the ground running. That’s something our clients love, and value.

Our Experience
Jonathan Tuttle is the founder and president of Vaxt Marketing & Advertising. He brings more than 25 years experience both from the client and agency sides of the table. Jonathan has extensive experience in developing brands that create excitement, and action. An entrepreneur by nature he has excelled at start-ups and invigorating existing businesses with new life. He has led the marketing efforts for a wide range of animal and human nutrition, health and medical clients including InGeneron, ADM Animal Health & Nutrition, Lonza USA, EW Nutrition USA, Clarkson Eyecare, New Generation Supplements, Insurgica Medical Devices, Manna Pro, Inc., Retina Associates of St. Louis, ECOSYL USA, Prima Tech and many more.
Jonathan has experience in animal health and nutrition from field to plate, liter-ally. In addition to being in the animal feed industry much of his life he raised white park cattle, icelandic sheep and heritage breed hogs for processing as pasture fed meats sold through a variety of outlets.
In his freetime, he enjoys photography, sailing, traveling and watching his kids play soccer.

If you’ve met Julia Hoag ,DVM, our Director of Medical Marketing, you know she is driven and full of energy in everything she does. Her zest for life is contagious and she brings that enthusiasm and passion into every area of helping clients.
Julia (or Julie as she is best known) has extensive experience in animal and human medical marketing with large global pharmaceutical companies including RPR (now Sanofi-Aventis) and was Sr. Global Medical Affairs Manager for AstraZeneca worldwide, where she participated in new drug launches, expansion of indications and introduced new delivery technology. Although a veterinary doctor by training, she has extensive experience with human medical marketing with products in many disease states.
Julie’s 30 year career as a veterinarian has allowed her to work with dozens of species in settings from zoos and elephant rescue preserves, as well as in private practices that range from densely urban small animals, to farm calls, to third world bush medicine, and has licenses in 2 states and in 3 countries.
Julie also has a strong base in training, having planned and conducted outcomes-based training programs within the pharmaceutical industry, government agencies in developing nations, CME for vets, and basic training for vet students in 3 countries. She currently participates in global street dog rescue and rabies eradication programs and continues to publish research on the medical and social issues facing street dogs and the human populations in which they live.
In her free time, Julie participates in triathlons, loves showing her Morgan mare and training her Aussies, one of whom is deaf.
Vaxt Marketing is excited about the cross-functional experience and insight that Julia offers our clients in developing and implementing marketing strategies. And her eclectic skills set makes her a master networker and imaginative problem solver for new product development and launches as well as market expansion.
