Tonight marksthe second and final meeting this season between the Canucks and Devils. Vancouver lost their lone meeting versus New Jersey earlier this

month in overtime and split the season series versus the Devils last season.

Overall the Canucks are 3-1-1 in their last 5 meetings versus New Jersey.  Both Canucks goaltenders faced New Jersey in their first NHL game - Ryan Miller did so on Nov. 19/02 while Jacob Markstrom facedthem on Jan. 23/11. Brandon Prust appeared in his 100th NHL game against NJ on Mar. 10/10 while teammate Radim Vrbata collected his 100th NHL pointagainst the Devils on Jan. 15/06. Bo Horvat was drafted ninth overall at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft that took place in New Jersey. Empty Stocking Fund NightTonight the Canucks will be hosting The Province’s Empty Stocking Fund Night. The Canucks have been partnering with the EmptyStocking Fund for 15 years and last season raised $12,000. This evening the Canucks will be doing the following:

Players’ wives and girlfriends will be selling balloons for $20 each in Section 111 and Section 326. Inside every balloon is a prize

valued at $20 or greater. Balloon sales will begin pre-game.

The Province Empty Stocking Fund volunteers will be canvasing the concourse collecting donations.

Willie Desjardins became the 18th Head Coach in Canucks history on June 23, 2014.Desjardins served as Head Coach of Texas for two seasons compiling a 91-40-21 (.667) regular season record in 152 AHL games and led theStars to a Calder Cup Championship in 2014. He was awarded the Louis A. R. Pieri Award in 2013. Desjardins also served as an AssociateCoach with Dallas for two years.From 2002-2010 Desjardins was Head Coach of Medicine Hat (WHL) adding the role of GM in 2005. Desjardins twice led the Tigers toWHL championships in 2003.04 and 2006.07 seasons. In two Memorial Cup berths Desjardins’ Tigers advanced to the Finals once in 2007.Desjardins was awarded the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy (WHL) and presented with the Brian Kilrea Coach of the Year Award (CHL). Internationally, Desjardins has represented Canada as Head Coach in 2010 (silver) and Assistant Coach in 2009 (gold) at the World JuniorChampionships.
